New WR Coach!

True. Probably have 8 who realistically have a chance. Probably need 2-5 more as contingency and sort out after spring.

Elliot Brown
Malachi
Dae'von Hall
Cooper Hausman
Roman Mangini
Hayes Miller
Connor Schutt
DJ Singleton
Demetrius Bell

Jackson Carpenter
Jeremiah Jones
Isaiah McMorris
Keelan Smith
Alex Bullock

Quinn Clark
Isiah Mozee
Carter Nelson
Jacory
Bonner
Lloyd
I wouldn't cross off Hall, Smith or McMorris

They could definitely make it, more just left the new guys and dudes who actually were decent or mentioned. McGuire seemed to set us back and looking at that list the only dudes I really like are Lloyd, Bonner, Nelson and Barney. Everyone else is kinda meh until proven differently including the new guys.

What are people supposed to do? Ignore it? Shit on it? I think we can be happy about off season moves the program makes. Doesn’t mean we’re happy with “winning the offseason”. Don’t make a false equivalence when it’s not there

Exactly...more than one thing can be true.

2 year hire. He and Dana both gone after DR leaves for the NFL. Then burn it down again lol. But hey, 2 years of off season NC and rainbows
The sport is going to look more and more like the NFL every year. Eventually there will be legal contracts, smaller rosters, fewer teams having a chance at the playoff and coaches and players coming a going, without a draft. Every team will have some sort of salary cap to buy a team, and the quality of their spending on players and coaches will determine winning. We spent a lot on Dylan, I think it was worth it, might have been better to have a cheaper more veteran qb and buy a couple dlineman for next year, cut the head coaches salary and spend more on dc sort of stuff.

Coaches’ salaries don’t count against the cap in pro sports

I don’t expect them to at the college level, either

Lord, I hope it becomes more like the NFL with multi-year contracts and penalties for tampering. Right now it's like the wild, wild west.

I'm concerned about the volume of recievers we have. Not sure we want to make room for this one. Need a big body type. We have some pretty good wr, need a great one.
Production for BB has dropped each year in college.

We had two big body types this year and they didn’t do much of note.

Can’t blame coaches for Neyor’s 3-5 TD drops this season. That’s on him. The blocking and route running effort is squarely on coaching though.
Would add the battling for 50-50 balls in addition to the area listed. New guy has lived it and was good enough to sniff the pros. Hopefully he can teach some techniques to help win more of those balls.

Don’t disagree, I just don’t think NU is in any position to turn down a talent like Barion Brown.
The question is

Would NEB take another Barney if he were available on the market?

Uhhhhh. The answer is “I’ll take 3 of him”.

Guys we don’t need a “big body”. We need WR with an ability to seperate and catch a football. Period

Don’t get caught up in body types. Can they seperate. Can they catch?

Our search needs to start and end with those two questions. Body types and metrics help create positive answers to those two questions.

It appears to have brought at least some parity to the game though just as we have the 12 team playoff. There were years in the last decade where the gap between the top 3 teams and the 4-6 teams was MASSIVE. Like the 6 would be 20 point underdogs to the 3. For every player the huskers are losing, top teams are losing just as many. Nebraska was unlikely to ever be able to recruit well enough to win more than 9 a year in the old model, but now intelligent spending, some social skills from the coaching staff, and smart roster building and development can win.
