Nepotism Plagues the Program

As an FYI:

Nepotism is the practice of favoring relatives or friends, especially by giving them jobs. It often involves hiring or promoting family members or close friends to positions of authority, regardless of their qualifications. This can lead to a lack of diversity and meritocracy in the workplace, as decisions are based on personal relationships rather than skills and abilities.
decisions are based on personal relationships rather than skills and abilities.”
It will be argued by Rhule supporters that he hired Foley, Satt, McGuire, EJ, etc based on skill and not relationship. But that will not help their cause because those coaches outcomes have been unacceptable and have shown a lack of ability to do their jobs successfully. Because if those coaches were truly hired based on Matt’s understanding of their skills & abilities then we must question Matt’s skill and ability as a leader to put the right people in coaching roles.

Either Matt hires people due to nepotism
or
Matt doesn’t know what makes up a good coach

Can’t have it both way. 🤷‍♂️

Just becuase you don't like a hire, or a hire didn't work out, doesn't make it nepotistic.

Rhule was wrong on some of his initial hires and I expect them to be gone next year, which is a good thing. You are going to miss on some coaches on your initial staff, just move on when that happens. Doesn't have to be the conspiracy you are making it out to be.

As an additional FYI

The word nepotism comes from the Italian word nepote which means nephew. The word originated from the former papal practice of giving special favors to nephews and other relatives.

They just execute better. Rhule is doing the rebuild the old school way, building with freshman etc. Cignetti grabbed a bunch of experienced players and is running laps around us. The old way is dead.

Hammer hits nail here. Totally agree...Either he hires his unqualified buddies or is a terrible manager at understanding what type of coaches it takes to become nationally relevant again. Hopefully round 2 will produce better results.

Winning cures all so if I'm wrong I will gladly eat my crow.

Not saying you’re wrong, but have a lot of posters who support Rhule claimed he hired them on the merit of their achievements? Mostly what I have seen is people acknowledging he hired coaches according to comfort in relationships.

Are there a lot of posters claiming it was merit? I don’t remember seeing much of that at all.

Some claiming it was not nepotism so has to be merit then.

I think those claiming it was not nepotism are saying that because nepotism is often identified as relative hire, not friend hire.

I know when I view nepotism, I view it that way. With that view, it’s not nepotism since they aren’t related.

Just my thoughts, could be wrong in how others have processed the nepotism claim.
