Nebraska

Our true winter months are really only January & February. It’s actually a pretty great setup. We might have a week long snow in March, but that’s typically paired with a week long 30-50 degree week in January.

Outside of annoying spring winds here, I love our weather. You can legit golf 11 months of the year, and it’ll be 12 months for this year

February is the worst month of the year. Football is over. Shit weather. Month away from March madness and spring. Good time to take your tax refund and go someplace warm.

100% agree with this.
I think this is my last February w/o a vacation. Only didn’t do it because we have a 1 yr old. Next year we’ll be more comfortable having a grandparent watch the kiddo for a few days.

Last few years has been minimal. That's for damn sure. More back from state than federal. Im gonna need Elon and Doge to send me a bigger check from the crooks tbat have been pissing away our money.
No shit.

I have to donate to the football or basketball programs to get a tax write off…Winking

It had better be potty trained. Us grandparents have learned from teaching our children well.

We could dredge out a lake and have a surprising amount of beach front property and "coastline" that way, especially with inlets. You can get high quality sand and it would be better and more pleasant than the ocean in the summertime. There have been proposals on that exact thing before.
The only thing I don't like about it is it's a vanity project and Nebraska has many other priorities it should tackle first.

Winters are bad here much anymore, 2 or 3 weeks of really bad weather and that’s it. Winters are mild compared to the old days.
I can remember as a kid in the early 70s having a huge blizzard in northeast NE......then a day or two later walking around town in a T-shirt in January. Our weather isn't as much different as some think. I can also remember having a week in late January where the high never got above zero. In the mid 80's we took our boat out in mid January on the Missouri below Gavins Point Dam and my arms got sunburned as hell because all I was wearing was a T-shirt...... Variety can be a good thing. I enjoy the change of seasons.

What a stupid place to live. Spring and fall are OK but winter and summer suck.
I blame my lazy ancestors who only settled here because they were tired after crossing the Missouri and anything was better than Iowa.
I hate winters, but summers are the best part about living in Nebraska.

I'm going to need a remote starter for my car if I stay here much longer. 10 minute commute everywhere but my car doesn't warm up until I arrive at the destination.

Dingle, I grew up in northeast Nebraska as well in 70s and 80s. Dad worked for phone company, and it usually snowed so much they bought him a snowmobile to get to work. My eighth grade and junior year we went to school on Saturday to make up for so many lost days due to snow. Only the city kids like me had to go because farm kids couldn't get out. I remember driving to work on Saturday so cold the brakes on car would pop when applied, something was freezing up. Future wife from there lived on farm, no power for a week at a time. No running water due to no power to well. Lots a loss of livestock due to cold. Was interesting time.

Summer here sucks. The constant wind, humidity and bugs? Ugg

The amount of snowfall has reduced a lot. People panic over 3-4 inches now

OP, go suck and egg!

Not from the state but the people from Nebraska are the salt of the earth, kind, and respectful folks. That beats any weather trends that you have to endure.

Both my kids recently graduated from Nebraska. Both are making great money. Both have built friendships across the country.

Nebraska is God’s country!!!

Ok, maybe I was a little hard on Nebraska. I should have said that I’m sick of cold and snow in the winter and humidity and wind in the summer. No matter where that is.
I just wish my ancestors would have maybe gotten to the Rockies before they quit.

I do like me some Wyoming and Montana but damn it gets extremely dry out there. Wind and cold there too? Yep. Been nearly sucked dry by mosquitoes at 9600 feet in Wyoming soooooo.... Snow? Yep. Worse yet....Californian's have taken over even little cow towns in Wyoming. -5F felt pretty nice tonight feeding the cows now that the wind has died down.

No offense cruelhalo but I don't understand the love for the beach unless it's white sand, clear blue waters, and EMPTY. Literally no desire to ever go to 90% of beaches in the world. I don't get it. Glad people like it though to keep them away from here (aside from cruehalo of course).

I did enjoy stomping in around in the snow today.
This! Makes me think twice before sharing my favorite spots. They involve a Hawaiian beach that you can enjoy sunset at with literally no one else around while still being a couple minutes drive from fresh seafood.

Bugs? Nebraska is one of the few places I can go camping in the summer and not have bugs. Quite a few places in this country where you can't even sit on the front porch in the summer without a screen.

Nebraska weather and scenery sucks.....but on the plus side, that has kept it from being invaded by Californians and New Yorkers like the states with good weather or scenery. So there are tradeoffs.

I’ve shoveled 3 houses 3 times each so far and will have to do it again tomorrow. Winter sucks!
