Who shows more of a lack of respect for Riley and a woeful misunderstanding of the roster talent that Pelini left?
Fan A - who predicts we are going to struggle for a few years
or
Fan B - who every year predicts Riley will go 11-1 and win the conference
I'll listen to the "A" argument. But only if they concede the struggles are a direct result of Bo's attempt to sabotage the program because he knew his time was up.
The wolf in Husker clothing crowd can bitch all they want about my prediction last year... FINE. But we were 7-0 and took Wisconsin to overtime before getting royally screwed on that 4th down no call. That call is made we are most likely heading to Ohio State 8-0. EVERYONE was damn near conceding a Ohio State loss because it was a matchup nightmare for Nebraska. A loss there literally didn't matter to the psyche of the team but what happened in overtime against Wisconsin did. Why is that so hard to understand???
No coach tries to tank it...they still have a career they need to think about and Bo cared about the work his players were putting in.
Bo definitely did not even want to work at NU once SE took over but tanking on purpose is a whole other story.
That's what I'll never understand. The guy acted pissed off over getting fired from a job he didn't even want.
Since TO retired NU has had four staffs.The Top 25 winning % for all of those staffs is like 33%......That's a systemic issue that goes all the way to the top of University leadership.
Man...some of us really think the players have really weak/fragile minds.
Sorry RR but you are not making a good case here. I have taken over some really struggling schools, mostly due to the person I followed. So what, I could sit around and blame him all day or start to work making things better. They don't get better overnight and painting this rosy picture and predicting nearly impossible feats makes zero sense. You can't on one hand blame the former coach for the inherited problems and then boast about 11-1 and championship records the next. Reality has to come into play sometime along the way. The biggest problem with your argument is the lack of respect for the coaches who came with Riley and low and behold, look how many are gone now. So what does that say? Is there a reality check there somewhere? It has nothing to do with SE or anyone else, that nonsense has to end. Riley is in control now and he is responsible, pure and simple.
I honestly don't know why this was brought up in the first place. It's a new year.

It was always Callahan, or the AD's fault when Blo did. Just like it was when he got his doors blown off.
My question is-why did somebody think they had to dredge this up anyway? Threads from this long ago should be left unless there is something relevant that has happened to bring it up again. Not only do you confuse people, but you restart pointless arguments about something that is long past. What possible relevance was there to bring this up now? Wow-somebody predicted us to go 11-1 2 years ago! I mean, what a relevant topic for now! Who the crap cares now?

The damage that Bo inflicted on the program could easily last a decade...or two. There is no telling how many minds he twisted. Some of the players on his teams were so sick they still supported him once he was gone. The death penalty literally may have been better...we would have been forced to start fresh without any hint of his stench around.
Nobody could coach in this environment. For a coach to take us to the Big Ten Championship game would be Bob Devaney-esque.
Just some offseason fun. Im not bashing anyone by it. People shouldnt take it so seriously I guess.
