Nebraska Tight End Ready to Camp In Laramie This Summer
Tom Lacock | GoWyoGo.com Staff Writer
The Pokes resurgence on the football field has had at least a little to do with the Cowboys’ renewed efforts to tap into the fertile recruiting groups of Nebraska.
Cambridge High School tight end Caden Houghtelling found himself in Laramie recently to check out the Wyoming program last week and came away with a strong impression of the program.

“I’ve went on two visits to Wyoming and both times I've been blown away by their fans and their coaches,” said the 6-foot-5, 230-pound Houghtelling. "Everything was great (on the visit to Wyoming this week). Coaches were super nice. The town is super easy to get around and I love that."
Houghtelling holds scholarships from North Dakota State, South Dakota State, and Montana. He is talking to Nebraska and Wyoming, which hasn’t offered, but Houghtelling believes they will at some point.
“The tight end coach was telling me how they are a run-first offense which is great because that is the same as our high school offense,” Houghtelling said. “They lack a big heavy tight end that can move people around really well. Well I'm just that guy for them.”
Houghtelling said he is being recruited by schools as both a defensive end and a tight end. He has been to Nebraska and Wyoming Junior Days and plans to attend South Dakota Stateand North Dakota State in April before attending Nebraska, Wyoming, and South Dakota State camps in the summer.
He said he is looking for great people and coaches that want him to be at their bet. He said his top five schools thus far are Wyoming, South Dakota State, North Dakota State, Nebraska, and Montana.
“I can block anybody and can create gaps for the running backs,” he said. “I have a lot of contested catches for first downs. I'm generally thrown to when we need a big play. I shut down the run game to my side at DE."
