2025 McKinney (Tex.) High three-star defensive back Zay Gentry announced his top five and Nebraska is not among the finalists as he closes in on a decision. Gentry had previously announced he had plans to make an official visit to Nebraska in June, those plans are seemingly off.

With Gentry off the board here are three names to remain optimistic about: Four-star 6'3 cornerback Adonyss Currie has emerged as a top target for defensive backs coach Evan Cooper he visited this week and will OV for the spring game, Phoenix (Az.) Mountain Pointe three-star safety Rylon Dillard-Allen (30 offers) is OVing for the spring game and Nebraska is battling USC, Arizona State and Washington, but Cooper and Rhule have done a really good job keeping the Huskers at the top of his mind. Kahuku (Hawaii) safety Aiden Manutai is OVing in June, Nebraska has multiple relationships working to land him but have to fend off Washington and Tennessee.
