Nebraska is simply a poorly coached team

How do you fix the lack of talent? You can't really fire them.
Honestly I do not believe they lack talent. They definitely lack technique which is 100% coachable.

I won't pull the lack of talent card until I see proper technique being used and our guy just gets beat.

We have had the worst OL coaching in all of college football for 4.5 years

FHCSF

It’s more about the Jimmy and Joes than coaching and development. We evaluated below average on the players we took in the last several recruiting classes making up this team. We take the wrong three and four stars than the right ones signed. It is depressing but coaching and development isn’t good but the talent is the biggest issue. You can see team speed and especially winning line play is lacking. Our lines(most especially offensive line) are not of the quality to be contenders for any championship. With the offensive line, it could easily take years to get much better.

It won't take years. We can get guys from the portal who will make a difference right away.

What happens when your running game isn't working? Then you have to be able to pass the ball.
Spread to run. Four receivers, oline lose some damn weight so they can actually move and get still rather large bodies at least IN THE WAY.

Get some nice horizontal pisses going as extension of run game, couple vertical hits, and watch the defense begin to leave just 5 in the box. Run all damn day on that.

Mickey looked real bad with how bad the backup qb position looked. From what is being said, Mickey runs a pro style practice, where the 1's get most of the reps and everyone else stands around and gets a few reps.

there is need for huge upgrade of talent on the roster. However, there is also enough talent on the roster now to win the Big 10 West. Illinois has no more raw talent that Nebraska...but has far superior player development (coaching)

Frost was a big hire for Nebraska because he’s an ex player.

No other big time school is beating down his door
At the time Frost was hired there were other schools interested in him. He just went 13-0 at UCF and was one of the hottest names in coaching.

If no one was around him how did he get smacked one second after dropping it?

A few bitches:
1. Stop dancing around and get the F upfield! Get the 1st down!
2. Make a TFL… if you get your hands on the ball carrier in the backfield, don’t let them slip away for a positive gain! It’s maddening how poorly the team tackles.
3. Why go away from Grant! Two plays in 1Q and he was rolling with 40+ yards.
4. Just a lot of individuals and big egos on the team. Guess that’s the best money can buy. NIL!
5. Program needs a driven leader as HC. Ability to recruit and develop. Has to bring in top talent at OC and DC or we will continue being a poverty program like Vandy, Kansas, and Indiana.
6. How bad are we? We’re in a winnable division arguably the most winnable in P5 and we’ve now lost 3 years in a row to Illinois, 7 to Iowa, 3 to Purdue… 4 to Minnesota? JFC the product on the field is a complete embarrassment to the state and fans that support the program. It’s almost criminal how the fans get ZERO ROI from this program. Frost fleeced us…
I agree with everything u posted. But I gave you a like because starting it with a few bitches was great.

This will be an unpopular opinion but the turning point of the entire game was when Rahmir Johnson dropped that wide open pass that was PERFECTLY thrown to him. I mean there was nobody - and I mean NOBODY - around him.

And the dude dropped it.

Five minutes later it was 20-9 Illinois and that was that.

Seriously, NU was up 9-6 and had total and complete control of the ballgame. They had all the momentum and Illinois was on its heels. Johnson dropped that perfect pass and immediately put NU off schedule. What could have been a huge gainer was instead 2nd and 10. They try to get some of the yardage back with a Grant run and he’s promptly tackled for a loss. Now it’s 3rd and 11 or whatever. And that’s when the floor falls out. NU’s paper mache Oline pretty much lets the entire Illinois Dline right through to Thompson who literally disappeared from sight. I couldn’t even see the kid. All I saw was a bunch of white jerseys and orange helmets. It was like there was no offensive line at all. Like imagine a 7 on 7 drill except the other team was playing with 11 guys. That was this play.

So Thompson gets hit just as he releases and (not) shockingly gets hurt. Illinois intercepts it and that…was…that. Ballgame.

All leading back to the Rahmir Johnson drop.

Now I know coaches and players like to say you win and lose as a team. And that’s true for the most part but football is a game of momentum. And NU continues to be its own worst enemy. All teams make mistakes but NU isn’t good enough to overcome them.

That Johnson drop was so emblematic of Nebraska football of the last 20 years. Snatching defeat out of the jaws of victory. They really and truly cannot get out of their own way. And you know what the answer to that is? Good coaching.

A good coach emphasizes the mental aspect of the game, which is where 90% of football is actually played. Between the ears. And NU hasn’t had a coach that focused on that since TO.

Talent is a big part of that, yes. But it’s things Like discipline and fortitude that make a difference. Not having dumb penalties. Blown assignments. Missed tackles. Dropped passes. Those are mental errors. It’s what separates the okay teams from the truly good teams. And NU consistently finds ways to shoot themselves in the foot, and they’ve been doing that since 2002.

I’m a huge fan of MJ, but it might be best to clean house. They need a whole new perspective on the sideline.

It was dropped, but far from perfect. The pass was behind him.

It is never one play but for whatever reason Nebraska has failed to convert a "big game changing momentum play" for over a decade. How many "missed" INTs, poor punt coverage (MSU), fumbles, etc at critrical times - ALL went against us. I feel that as bad as Frost was that the punt coverage with MSU changed the fortunes of the team. That was a win - and maybe one or two would have changed the momentum overall. Not one big play was had. Luck or whatever - Rhamir was just wash rinse repeat.

This team has terrible offensive line. That has nothing to do with MJ.
Watch the Foreman blackshirt show - the part where they review the Brewington screen. HL and TH are out blocking and look like two balloons rolling down the field. HL gets a block but - my god- so unathletic. OL is not just overweight but does not deliver any force with attitude. This is recruiting - not development. Jurgens was the only baller in the Oline in the last few yeasrs.

It's both recruiting and development. None of which is on MJ.

Frost did a very poor job here. It's a real shame he couldn't stay out of his own way.

You said earlier that we were at midfield. Now you say we were driving. I just went back and watched the play, it was 3rd and 11 and we were on our own 30. Winning 9-6. Not exactly in the drivers seat regardless of how you’re trying to spin it.
Even if Rahmir had fallen down on that play, that was a nice chunk play. Driver's seat no, but if NU gets 3 or 6 out of that drive, the game definitely plays out differently.

If nothing else CT doesn't get hurt 2 plays later.
