Football Fan Day Set for Wednesday Evening

Nebraska fans are encouraged to meet the Huskers before the start of practice on Wednesday, Aug. 3 at Nebraska Football Fan Day presented by U.S. Cellular.

This year’s Fan Day will once again be held in the evening with the event scheduled at Memorial Stadium, beginning at 6 p.m. The event will expand by 30 minutes and last a full two hours this year.

Fan Day is annually the best opportunity for fans to meet and greet the Nebraska football players, coaches and staff before preseason practice begins the following day on Thursday, Aug. 4.

In addition to Fan Day being 30 minutes longer this year, Nebraska fans will be able to enter Memorial Stadium through four gates this year, rather than two in previous years. Fans may enter Memorial Stadium through Gates 3 (SW), 11 (NW), 15 (NE) and 24 (SE), with gates opening at 6 p.m.

The majority of players and coaches will be seated at various locations on the field, with true freshmen located in the stands in the West Stadium.

Defensive position groups will primarily be seated along the West sideline, receivers, offensive line and specialists on the East sideline and quarterbacks and running backs in the North end zone. Assistant coaches will be seated with their respective position groups. A more detailed map will be available on Huskers.com soon.

During Fan Day, Nebraska will honor Sam Foltz with a short moment of silence and video tribute.

Nebraska fans are asked to respect players and coaches, as well as other fans by limiting their autograph requests to one item per player or coach. Any apparel items fans are wishing to have autographed should be in hand, rather than being worn. These policies will help accommodate as many fans as possible within the Fan Day time window.

Also as a reminder, autographs obtained for players and coaches are for personal use only. Any re-sale of an autographed item is prohibited and re-sale of an item with a student-athlete’s signature could jeopardize the player’s eligibility.

Autograph cards with a full 2016 roster, unsigned Coach Mike Riley autograph cards and other items will be available for fans at the gates.

Parking will be available for fans in lots on campus around Memorial Stadium. Fans can park for free in the Champion’s Club lot, 14th& Avery parking garage and Lot 5 northeast of Memorial Stadium. Fans will have access to restrooms on the ground level, near gates 2, 15 and 24. Fans will not have access to the Osborne Athletic Complex. Water, Pepsi products and Gatorade will be available for sale from individuals moving around the field during the event.

Husker fans can also pick up numerous items, including brand new adidas products, as well as 2016 posters and media guides at Huskers Authentic on Fan Day. Huskers Authentic will be open at its main location at Pinnacle Bank Arena and satellite locations inside Memorial Stadium and on Stadium Drive on Fan Day.

The Nebraska Athletic Ticket Office will have special hours on Fan Day in the Stadium Drive Parking Garage. Fans interested in information on tickets for Husker Athletics are invited to stop by the ticket office windows from 5 to 8 p.m.

Season tickets for the 2016 football season are sold out, however fans still have an opportunity to purchase single-game tickets for the upcoming season. Nebraska Athletics is offering the B1G Pack, where fans can save $10 off single-game pricing and receive a ticket to both the Purdue and Maryland games for $120.

Single-game tickets are also available to the Huskers’ season opener with Fresno State on Sept. 3 ($75) and the Oct. 1 homecoming game against Illinois ($65). To order tickets, visit Huskers.com/tickets or call 1-800-8 BIG RED during regular business hours (8 a.m.-5 p.m., Mon.-Fri.).

Rohr to Handle Public Address Duties

Nate Rohr will once again handle the public address duties for Fan Day, but this fall will also become the game-day PA voice at Memorial Stadium. Rohr replaces Lane Grindle who served in the role in 2015, but is now part of the Milwaukee Brewers radio network.

In addition to serving as the voice of Fan Day for several years, Rohr is an experienced member of the Husker Sports Network team. Rohr has served as the play-by-play voice of Husker softball for the past 12 seasons. He has also previously served as the public address announcer for Nebraska softball, soccer and swimming & diving, and filled in on public-address duties at various Husker events over the past several years.

A native of Beatrice, Rohr is a 2009 graduate of the University of Nebraska with a degree in broadcasting.
