Football Nebraska adds assistant special teams coach Nick Humphrey, and a couple other staff notes

Was checking out Nebraska football's staff directory and noticed a new name I didn't recognize: Nick Humphrey

It appears Humphrey was hired as special teams coordinator Mike Ekeler's assistant.

Humphrey was a walk-on LB at Tennessee who spent six seasons with the Vols. He was a key special teams player in 2021 and 2022 under Ekeler. Humphrey played in 22 games at Tennessee and collected nine career tackles.



In other news, which isn't new, Brett Maher is now officially on the staff as a special teams assistant. He was on the staff last year and worked with the place kickers, but didn't have an official title I believe.

And as Dane Key said on Tuesday, Andrew Verboys is now listed as Nebraska's assistant receivers coach. Key credited Verboys with developing him in his three seasons at Kentucky:
