Huskers Release 2016-17 Schedule

The Nebraska wrestling team released its 2016-17 schedule on Wednesday, which features eight of the top-25 team finishers from last year’s NCAA Championships.

The Huskers will host their annual Coaches Clinic/Intrasquad on Friday, Nov. 4 before heading to Brookings, S.D., for the Daktronics Open on Sunday, Nov. 6. One week later, NU travels to Ames, Iowa for another tournament, the Cyclone Open, on Nov. 13.

Nebraska’s home opener is slated for Friday, Nov. 18 against West Virginia at the Devaney Center at 7 p.m. On Sunday, Nov. 20, NU will battle Wyoming, who finished 18th at the 2016 NCAA Championships, in Laramie, Wyo.

The Huskers will host a tripleheader on Saturday, Dec. 3 at NU Coliseum, starting at 2 p.m. NU grapples against Michigan State at 2 p.m., Drexel at 4 p.m., and Princeton at 6 p.m. Additional duals that will take place at the Coliseum that day are Drexel and Princeton at 2 p.m., Princeton and Michigan State at 4 p.m., and Drexel and Michigan State at 6 p.m.

NU visits North Carolina Dec. 9-10 before finishing up 2016 at the Midlands Championships in Evanston, Ill., Dec. 29-30. The Huskers face NC State, who finished 11th at last year’s NCAA Championships, on Dec. 9 before a Dec. 10 showdown with North Carolina.

The New Year 2017 begins with a dual at the Devaney Center on Jan. 8 against defending national champion Penn State. The following weekend, NU hosts Wisconsin (Jan. 13) and Michigan (Jan. 15) at the Devaney Center.

Nebraska’s dual at Minnesota on Jan. 20 is the first of a three-match conference road trip. The Huskers also wrestle Purdue (Jan. 27) and Indiana (Jan. 29) before hosting Ohio State on Feb. 10 for Senior Night. Nebraska will travel to Iowa City, Iowa on Feb. 12 to face the Hawkeyes in its final conference dual of the season.

The NWCA National Duals Championship Series will take place on Feb. 19. The Big Ten Championships, March 4-5, will be held in Bloomington, Ind., before the NCAA Championships, set for March 16-18, in St. Louis, Mo.
