How is Trev Alberts still employed as a power 5 AD?
Compare ATM's athletic department vs Nebraska and ask yourself how is Dannen still employeed after 2 years? Trev is an idiot, but he will still be around long after Troy is canned. Which at the rate he is going, will be in 2 years. Maybe 3 depending on his contract.
You are correct with 8 returning starters. Lauridsen will be a capable replacement at 125 (he beat Smith in wrestle offs at beginning of the season, from what I heard). Who steps up at 149? Can we find a HWT, or does Andrews progress? Could be a strong 2025-26 for the Huskers.

Need Harley to take a big jump next season. Need McDanel and JVD to build on this amazing season.
Need Pinto to rebound and set the tone for his senior season.
149 will need to be replaced, we do have a recruit from Cali coming in who is pretty good. Will Manning ride with the freshman or will he find someone from the portal? Nonetheless, this team will always be overall built, and not bought.
We have Ziola coming in at HWT. One of the top recruits in the country. He may be better than Andrews right now. Ziola would benefit from a RS year, I believe, but with wrestling anything is possible. I agree, next season is set up to be very strong for Nebraska.
My predictions for individual & team prior to the start of the NCAAs. Updates in BOLD.
Prediction time for the NCAAs:
Smith (125) - 5th place (7th place)
Van Dee (133) - does not place (7th place)
Hardy (141) - 3rd place (2nd place)
Lovett (149) - 2nd place (National Champ!)
Taylor (157) - 4th place (National Champ!)
Minto (165) - does not place (4th place)
Pinto (174) - 5th place (does not place)
Allred (184) - 8th place (7th place)
McDanel (197) - does not place (8th place)
Team - runner-up to Penn State (anywhere from 2nd to 5th place, depending on bonus point wins and other team performances). Huskers finish runner-up behind Penn State. The difference? PSU had 2 more AAs and no one on their team finished worse than 6th place (Kirkvliet takes medical forfeit once he lost in semis, otherwise he probably moves up to at least 3rd place match). PSU had a lot of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place wrestlers. FWIW: 3rd place gets between 15-20 team points, depending on bonus point wins and when someone drops into the consolation bracket. PSU having 2 extra wrestlers is about 35+ extra team points.
I could see Van Dee and Minto sneak in there and get at least 8th place to earn AA status. I could also see Taylor slide down but still achieve AA. Allred could get as high as 3rd place -- or go 1-2 and not place. And, no surprise, Hardy and Lovett are our best chance at national champs. Van Dee and Minto wrestled great and above their seed. Taylor was a HUGE pleasant surprise! Allred maintained. Hardy & Lovett wrestled great and unfortunately Hardy just lost his edge in finals after a great P1. I admit I did not see McDanel achieve AA -- but I think Skintight (?) saw the potential -- so congrats!

Manning deserves a raise. He is not at the top of the salary list. I emailed Troy and told him to take a few $100,000s from Fred and Rhule.
A salary list I saw from 2023 has Manning #12 best paid. Come on. Manning has been doing better than that. Give him a 50% raise and he still will only make a little over $400,000. He has been here almost 25 years....a steady winner. And give his assistants a raise....
