I still don't know if I'm comfortable being "in". I feel like this team would be more motivated by being just on the outside looking in so they fight and scratch and claw the last 2 weeks.

If we take 2-3 vs Indiana and if we win a few in the tournament I'll feel a lot better. If we sweep and make the champ in the tournament I wouldn't be surprised by a 2-seed in the regional.

We are still very much in a precarious spot though.

The team better take the approach of winning the Big Ten Tourney in my opinion. Do they have to win it to get in? Of course not, which is great because a month ago nobody would have thought that. If we can get to 38 wins I don't see how they leave us out. That would be winning 2/3 against Indiana and 2 in the tourney.

I worry about the Michigan sweep keeping us out of the tourney. Not sure if the tear we have been on lately would compensate for less than 40 wins given that series.

Laughable that Creighton is a two seed

D1Baseball's Aaron Fitt writes the Stock Report which is a long, detailed explanation for their Field Of 64 choices. Here is their thinking on the Big Ten.

Big Ten (3 bids)
SAFELY IN:
Minnesota, Michigan

ON THE BUBBLE (IN): Nebraska

ON THE BUBBLE (OUT): Ohio State, Michigan State

One change from last week: Michigan State drops out of our field of 64 after dropping its second straight series (at Iowa) and losing a midweek game to Central Michigan to fall to No. 72 in the RPI — clearly out of at-large range.

Minnesota remains in solid at-large position despite an RPI that is down to No. 46 because the Gophers are back alone in first place in the Big Ten. Michigan’s stock dropped this weekend, as the Wolverines were swept at Ohio State, but they remain in good shape at No. 36 in the RPI. And Nebraska has climbed all the way to No. 47 after a series win against Penn State followed by a midweek win at Creighton. The Huskers are in very good shape now. But nobody else is in at-large position in this league anymore.

The one team to keep an eye on is Ohio State, which jumped from No. 95 to No. 78 in the RPI and improved to 13-8 in the conference after sweeping the Wolverines. Should the Buckeyes have a big weekend on the road at Minnesota this weekend, they could make another move in the RPI. Likely not far enough to get them into at-large range, but if they followed it up with a strong weekend in the conference tournament, well, you never know. An at-large bid is a long shot, but maybe there’s an outside chance.

That's why the RPI only mind frame makes no sense to me, glad the NCAA will take into account last ten games, head to head, and things of that nature.

As of today Nebraska is their only top 50 RPI win. If you are talking at large...no way no how should they be in over NU.

These projections are if the Huskers keep winning.
If the Huskers go on a 5 game losing streak to end the season,
there is no Regional Invitation.

So back to the 'next game' mentality.
And focusing on winning a conference championship.

P.S.
I have a hard time believing any B1G Baseball team is "Safely In"
Except the conference tournament winner.

Any projection that has MSU in is laughable.

We have to win a minimum of 4 more games IMO and that still leaves some modest risk.

Just win BABY. Win and you are in. One game at a time and please for the love of god, let this momentum keep going. How sweet would it be to sweep Indiana and have Minnesota lose at least 2 to tie for the regular season title? We unfortunately can't win the regular season without a tie but sharing it would say a lot for this team.

GO BIG RED

If Minnesota losses 2 games they still win the B1G they would have the least losses at 7.

Sorry to burst your bubble. Only way we tie is if tOSU and Nebraska sweep for a three way tie for the conference title 3 way tie.

I'd bet Money those two things don't happen.Winking

Yes, I was just looking at wins. Who did they have a cancellation against? So we need Ohio State to sweep them. Ill take that as well.

How would that be a 3 way tie? Nebraska and OSU would be at 16-8 and Minny would be at 15-8. Or am I seeing this wrong? I do need some sleep so I could easily see how I am seeing it wrong lol.

Two way tie, right? If Minnesota gets swept they would fall 1/2 game behind OSU. If we sweep Indiana we would match OSU for the lead but lose the tie breaker with them.

Correct me if I'm wrong....

The B1G regular season winner simply gets a #1 seed to the conference tournament.

The B1G Trophy, Title, and the conference's automatic Regional birth all go to....
the B1G Tournament Champion.

We didn't play Ohio State so it would be a straight up tie.

I just seen in a different thread that they have a better common opponent record than we do. So they would own the tie breaker for seeding of the tourney.

We won't sweep Indiana but that's ok. If we win 2/3 I'll take it. We are pretty hot right now which is what I'm banking on. Oddly enough I either want to have the 2 seed or the 4 seed, don't want the 9am time slot to start the tourney.

It would be unfair but nice if they would make it to where the money is guaranteed with fans in the stands. No matter what seed Nebraska is, they would be smart to play them in the evening so people can go watch. Only if things were that easy.

From the Big Ten Baseball Tournament Central site...

The 35th annual Big Ten Baseball Tournament will be held at TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha from May 25-29, 2016. The tournament bracket, which consists of the top eight teams by order of conference winning percentage, will be announced on Saturday, May 21, which is the final scheduled day of regular-season competition. The Big Ten Baseball Tournament is a double-elimination event. The Big Ten Champion is the team or teams that finish atop the regular-season standings, while the Big Ten Tournament Champion receives the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Championship.

Regular season champ is the officially recognized champion.

True. Just went through the list of BIG champions and it was all that won the regular season. Tourney champs get a * tho
