NCAA Football Rules Committee Back on Its BS

other proposed rule changes include no longer stopping the clock after incomplete passes
No longer stopping the clock after incomplete pass is ridicules..
This is college football not the NFL…

Why games take so long at games is waiting for all the commercials being played getting their money, not a measly incomplete pass..

How bout making reviews shorter. The refs have a 1 minute time limit. If they cant see if for sure in 1 minute then the ruling on the field stands. These 4 or 5 minute reviews ruin the game. Then let a coach challenge a penalty.

How about instead of screwing up the game further we cut out all the fking media timeouts every five minutes? No unecessary timeouts jam packed with a billion commercials so we don't have 4 hour games? Oh wait that would cut into the bottom line. Silly me never mind

It seems like the rule about no longer stopping the clocks is one of those extreme rules they included but will never pass. But they included it so they can say they comprised and get the rule they really want easier to pass.

It time isn't stopped after incomplete passes, it takes away all the strategy and favors teams that loves to pass. They are no longer penalized because they don't need to worry about keeping too much time on the clock. Games are also going to be lower scoring and less exciting to watch because there won't be time for it.

I think they just want the first down rule to be like the NFL passed and the others are just fluff to have more then one rule to vote on.

How about hiring better refs and stop the conference refs.

Example: a JR HS Vice principal from Springfield MO with an extreme hatred for Nebraska shouldn’t be allowed to be an official in the B1G. If he’s willing to tell me (a stranger) how much he hates Nebraska at a random Christmas party, then obviously people that work with him know too. Just too much of this in college football

hilarious, if true

Let’s also take into consideration the NFL has two 2 minute warnings in games..

It’s just stupid to keep the clock moving after incomplete pass for college football..

Do people advocating for less media timeouts realize that the massive amounts of money being paid to the BIG and SEC is based on the networks projected ability to sell advertising?
Any move to decrease media timeouts will trigger a swift renegotiation of the media rights contract that will be most unfavorable to conf schools

No one is saying less media timeouts, what everyone is saying the media time outs are the ones making the games longer not a incomplete pass..

How about a commercial break after an incomplete pass BUT the clock keeps running, we just don't get to see the play because we are watching a commercial?

If they're looking to shorten the games they can keep the clock running after the incomplete pass much like a running play not achieving a first down regardless if its a loss or gain. This seems more like a balancing move to me.

Keeping the clock running after a first down is just them trying to make mote room for advertising....which may be really all they're trying to do in the first place.

I don't think they are trying to shorten the amount of time your butt is in the seat at all.

How ya figure ? Games are much shorter in the NFL because of it..

No one been complaining about the games lasting too long..

Everyone is complaining about instant replay lasting longer than it should and commercials especially seating in the staduim.

Maybe the rules committee show ask the fans first hand if they like it the way it is..

Average length of a college game is 20 minutes longer than an NFL game. Considering that a contest is only 60 minutes and the avg game is 3.5 hours for college and 3.17 hours for an NFL contest Ihow do you figure they are "much" shorter?

I might be pessimistic about how much they actually care about our time I guess.

It’s always been longer than the NFL…

Excuse about players being more vulnerable to injuries but keep adding more teams to the playoff is pulling the wool over our eyes..

Yeah I think 8 should be max if we're going to watch a playoff personally and I also think they should stop dicking with the game altogether.

If they want to speed up the game they need to shorten the reviewing of plays. Get better cameras and viewing screens if they can’t decide after 2 minutes the play stands as called on the field

Oh so this favors going to the game to see those plays?? I like it! But I don’t have money to go to games, so I watch on tv. And I would be pissed if I missed a touchdown from CT to MC due to a commercial.

Did they get rid of the ridiculous idea of a running clock, regardless of an incomplete pass, throughout the entire game until the last 2 minutes of the half? As long as that's not implemented, then I don't care about the other clock change.

Good thing that’s not a rule yet, huh

That would take spiking the ball out of the equation.

Since each team gets 3-time outs a half including the 30-second time out, we allow only 6 commercial breaks per half including 2 30-second commercial breaks.

On plays being reviewed, start the review clock and after 1 minute if it is not overturned, the original call stands. Same thing with a targeting call. But, the offending player is suspended for the entire next game, not just a half.

See, the more shit you write, the more restrictive it can become, but does it actually benefit the teams or fans?

It's like I tell my Doctor, there's a 25% chance you'll address my symptoms, but there's a 100% chance you'll get your money.

If the objective is to speed up the time of the game, then go after the two main offenders: commercials and deciding on the replays.

**Edited** The same thing applies to injured players or those who are feigning injury. A total of 3 per half per team, on #4 it is a charged timeout. If the team is out of timeouts, the injured (fake injured) player sits for the remainder of the game. If the player really is injured, that shouldn't be a problem.

But you’re all for it, from the original post.
Sounds like you’re all for these changes. What is another half hour going to be a dramatic change other getting home to the baby sitter?
I like the clock not stopping after 1st downs, yes. The rest I could care less about. I’m not gonna get all hysterical after something like that.

Lot of teams spiking it with over 2 minutes left?

Hey I can understand that on getting a first down? Totally agree with that.. but continuing the clock running on a
incomplete pass is Ludacris in college football..

Can you agree that’s a rule driven my the NFL?

the NFL still stop the clock after incomplete passes

but it doesn't always stop the clock after a ball carrier runs out of bounds, a rule that confuses and annoys the sh*t out of me

Pressing you to any point you can’t handle it so you revert to belittling me in the process..
Where did I belittle you? My statement was factual. Please don’t report me for stating facts.
