Pretty good first half. If Perkins can play anywhere near that well after the break, Zags could prevail. He gave them a good spark after being a non-factor for much of the tournament.

That 4th foul on Collins looked like the product of Roy's non-stop bawling. How was that different than what happens on every freaking trip down the court?

Gonzaga is tough. I realize that many think it's Carolina's to lose, but I think it's the other way around. It's anyone's game.

I rewound the video and watched it again... what what the foul!? He ran up to the UNC guy and the whistle was instantly blown.

Did he hit him, push him, or just touch him?

That 4th foul will probably be the difference in this game with 15 mins left and he is gonna be on the bench awhile. His replacement is not playing that great.

Roy was bitching the whole first half about the Gonzaga bigs being too physical underneath. So at the first possible opportunity, that kind of call was coming. But yeah, to make it look better, the ref might have at least waited until the contact actually took place.

Meeks just got two free throws because someone breathed on him, but he doesn't understand why THAT was a foul. Okay.

You're right. Meeks was touching the ball and the end line at the same time. Funny that officials will routinely take five minutes to determine whether there should be 24.6 seconds or 24.3 seconds left on the clock, but they couldn't review that play.

Regardless of how poorly the referees officiated the game, North Carolina earned it... but just barely. Both teams did not play well for any national championship standards. Maybe it was because of the officiating. However, congrats to UNC. They should relish it all they can because of seniors and investigation, I don't think they'll win one again for several years. Nothing against them, just the truth.

Meeks wasn't out of bounds. I can also point to a horrible call against Berry when he picked Karnowski (sp?) cleanly.

It was a rough physical game and the refs have to call a foul when a player fouls. It's on the players to adjust their play and they didn't.

Nice redemption for the Heels.

I'm not saying Gonzaga got jobbed - I'm just saying the officials completely dominated the second half and sucked all the rhythm out of the game. I feel bad for Gonzaga mainly because of Williams-Goss getting hurt near the end. Maybe they lose anyway, but after that the Zags never had a good possession.

Yes, he was out of bounds. The ball was in his lap when he put his hand on the end line. If they make that call, you never get to the held ball.

Certainly didn't decide the game, but it was a missed call that could have been reviewed.

I think the problem is that the ref didn't have a very good view.

I did not enjoy the game much. Almost turned the channel because of the boring free-throw contest we all suffered through for 45 minutes. Williams-Goss is a stud and was tearing up UNC's interior. And you're absolutely correct—there was no rhythm whatsoever. The referees should not have called that many fouls. It puts the top players on the bench. This is a worldwide audience with millions of viewers. You have to let the best players play.

I don't know if it is true but I have heard that ever since Michael "Air" Jordan, city kids spend more time on spectacular shots and dunks than the dull and boring routine shots and free throws. While defenses may be tougher than they were years ago, shooting tonight was pretty awful, whatever the reason.

You guys are honestly acting surprised NC got all the calls? You must have missed the game where Arkansas had he game in the bag and the officials literally ripped it it away from them in the 2nd round. As far as the investigation comments, nothing is going to happen to this lowlife cheating program as they have many grads in high up places in the NCAA. It's actually quite embarrassing.

Got all the calls?? Sure its goes that way sometime but look at game stats, both teams had same amount of fouls called, literally dead even.

Meeks hand was out of bounds but before he got to the ball. He got it back in bounds to secure the ball.

Can you tell from that view that he's touching the ball? It could have touched his leg, but I don't think there's enough evidence to prove that he's touching the ball at this point. I think the call stands (assuming they could have reviewed, which they couldn't because it was a tie-up, not an out-of-bounds call). I'll admit that it was likely touching his leg while his hand was out of bounds, but he did move his hand back in bounds before he grabbed the ball.

Couldn't be reviewed because they can only review out-of-bounds calls. The call was held ball which is not reviewable. The ball is between his legs. Likely touching them, but there is no 100% view that says it was touching his legs while his hand was out of bounds, which was for less than a second.

I don't blame Jordan, I blame the AAU. They don't practice, all they do is play games. Fundamentals aren't taught. The game is becoming a pick-up game because the total lack of practice at the high school level (specifically the AAU level, where all the elite players play).

I finished in the top 94% of all ESPN brackets, if anyone cares :) Not bad considering I was in bottom 7% at the end of the first day.

I thought both teams were trying to take it inside and be physical which combined with being tired led to some sloppy play. A lot of head down, shoulder dipping drives into the guy or two guarding you. Then to break it up, someone would come down and jack up a long distance three from way out there with plenty of time on the shot clock. It wasn't the officials, it was the players.

Watch the video that is all over ESPN and other sites. There needs to be some suspensions. I think Carolina still wins but this was not a call that could go one way or the other.

There were TV camera angles that showed him touching the ball and the end line at the same time, so gosh I suspect the officials wouldn't have had to rely on a still shot from the baseline. But I'm sure that's the last we'll hear of it, now that you've decreed that the call absolutely would have stood.

I'm not suggesting there should be suspensions, that it's the worst call ever, or that it cost Gonzaga the game. But the slobberers who still swear he wasnt out of bounds make me laugh. And then there's the "only out of bounds for less than than a second" argument - which makes a huge difference in whether it was a missed call or not!

Besides, it briefly slipped my mind that officials only miss calls against Nebraska. My bad.

I mention how long his hand was out of bounds because the ball is clearly not in his hands during that brief period. So it would have to be proven that his body or legs were touching it. I have agreed that it likely was touching his body while his hand was out of bounds, but I don't think video evidence would have been conclusive.

Beyond all of this, once again, this play is not reviewable as it wasn't an out-of-bounds call. It was a held ball call which cannot be viewed per NCAA rules.

Can we also talk about the ghost call on Berry when he cleanly picked the ball from the Zags big man but was called for a foul?
