Now that the election is over and Trump has become a toothless tiger, the FDA has reverted to the old ways of their bureaucracy. Originally they had told state health departments that they expected a vaccine to be available by Thanksgiving. Now they've decided to submit the vaccine data from the emergency use requests to a "PANEL" of "experts" to assess the data. Hmmm. I thought the FDA and the CDC were the experts. Now theyr'e takign a week off for Thanksgiving and will meet on December 10th to discuss the panel findings.
Over 2 weeks after they originally told state health departments that the vaccine would be available, they will meet to discuss the "panel" findings. Meanwhile we've got the completely predictable cold weather surge in cases going on.....and they're on vacation. F'n bureaucrats. A 2-3 week delay in delivering vaccine to Dr.s will add another 3 weeks of logistical delay in delivering vaccine to the most vulnerable THAT means there will be a further delay in getting college professors, coaches and support staff vaccinated as they'll be down the line of priority. Good luck with being able to have any meaningful basketball season when you have the number of games and travel involved with college basketball.
