NCAA Baseball Tournament

Chanticleers (not Ord, the other guys) sweep LSU to punch their ticket to Omaha.

CWS field is almost set - just Florida/Florida State still to be decided.

I thought it was definitely pitcher friendly

Definitely. Especially when the tall, lanky pitcher from TCU was throwing. Anything high, low or outside was a strike.

That combined with A&M's apparent strategy of taking pitches until there were two strikes was a bad combo.

I agree with that and couple it with a couple walks by guys who don't walk people and a crucial error it equals staying home. However TCU has a great team and a hell of a thing going so I give them all the credit for winning that series.

UCSB sends the Canes packing - congrats Gauchos!

The mighty state of Florida 0-3 so far in the CWS. That does not break my heart.

two national seeds left, soon to be one and that one's on the brink too. honestly it might suck for attendance but it's probably the most fun tournament in years.

Am I the only one who thought the Florida coach made an incredibly moronic decision to insert Puck for one batter last night? Of course we now know it didn't work and who knows how effective he'll be next time, with that failure looming in his mind. I thought that was the dumbest move in recent CWS history.

I know that winning Game One is important, but that move struck me as something a coach would only do later in the CWS, in an elimination game. But then I've never been a big fan of O'Sullivan - I tend to lean toward his moves being moronic.

Fun to see both brackets go the distance. Hope the Chants have enough left in the tank to beat TCU a second time.

Coastal doing their damnedest to keep TCU in this game. They lose a runner at third base in the first, because he stupidly rounded the bag. Now a runner fails to score from second on a double to the warning track.

Well, it's Coastal vs Arizona for the whole enchilada (with bottomless nachos).
I was thinking of heading to a game. Do they sell Toppers pizza there? If I could get that, and some of them nachos.... I would be in a non-processed food heaven!

Well, no Toppers yet. But maybe in the next round of negotiations, the NCAA can give us a 10 year extension if we put one in.

Seriously, I think half the crowd is there for the food and not the baseball. Some lady walked straight into me because she was too busy admiring her foot long taquito. Of course, she gave me an attitude-filled 'excuuuuse me' to top the whole experience off.

Congrats to the Chanticleers. I had to look up what the hell conference they were even in. The Big South. Today is their last day in that conference. Starting tomorrow, they are in the Sun Belt for all sports except football.

Also, CCU pitcher Andrew Beckwith had a great season of course. In addition to everything else, I read that he is the winner of this year's 'Gregg Olson Award for Breakout Player of the Year'.
