1. Nas. Illmatic is damn perfect. He owns every guest appearance he’s on. And he put out 2-3 other very very good albums to boot. Always stayed consistent with his message too. Rarely sold out.
2. Biggie - simply a genius for his simple yet elegant rhymes. So gregarious and charismatic. So wise in his music choices (helped by guidance from puffy). Died too young but put out two great elite albums.
3. Lil Wayne - consistency and longevity. When he was at the top of his game he had a following unlike anything i can remember. Raps in different styles but with each he brings the noise and constantly takes songs over. Just put out an amazing amount of music too.
4. Eminem - two top 20 albums. An amazing lyrical ability matched by few. Sold like Elvis. Unreal for a rap artist.
5. Big L - was the Kevin Garnett of rap - super good and super versatile and young and under the radar team wise. Died too young. When he was fired up he was simply amazing. Vicious with his rhymes in every aspect of the word.
