If they ever get legislation passed, could get to the majority being at a place 3 to 4 years, but still, will always be a good chunk looking for greener (pun intended) pastures.

For some reason an image popped into my head while I was doing dishes this morning of a couple guys using slide rules when I began at an engineering firm in 1982. Calculators had been around for several years, but these guys clung to their slide rules. The same guys went ape-s#$% a couple years later when we were informed we would no longer be getting paper checks in lieu of direct deposit. Most all of us hate what college football has become, at least for now. All we can do is try to roll with the changes and hope NU has the right leadership in place with the right skills to navigate the changes to our advantage.

it will work itself out. If it doesn’t you could find other things to occupy your time. Covid made me realize how little sports actually impact my life. For that I’m thankful.

If Rhule can start winning here and eventually compete at the highest level (Playoffs/Championships) it will get better. The top programs mostly only lose players that can’t earn playing time. There will be exceptions, but try to get/buy UGA’s starting QB or OSU’s starting RB. Good luck with that…

The problem I have with this post is your talking about guys rejecting something that was measurably an upgrade to how existing things work.
The "I remember when my dad complained about rock-n-roll" equivocation doesn't apply to contemporary circumstances imo.

I'm right there with you. If the football eras of the past had today's greed and no rules corruption, Brook Berringer would not have saved the season in '94 because he would have been given big money to transfer somewhere else where he can start right away. Alabama would have made Roger Craig an offer that he couldn't refuse when he was playing behind Mike Rozier. And there wouldn't have been a "Pipeline" since Milt's well coached underclassmen backups would have been snatched up by other schools before it was their turn to dominate for the Huskers.

Things change in life and it affects everyone differently. What benefits the players now frustrates the fans. Used to be the other way around. Fans could fill up Memorial with #15 jerseys and TF didnt see a penny from the apparel sales. Something needed to change but the pendulum has swung too far. But now we have playoffs, which is pretty great. I’m confident that there will be regulation within the next couple of years, but not certain to what extent. I just want my Husker to win. Being invested in the players would make it a more engrossing experience, but for now, we are only invested in the laundry.

A lot of truth in this. Not sure what fans expect coaches or anyone else to do about it. It's a tough spot to be in. I was guessing coaches would switch everything on to 2 year plans. Based your entire roster off of two years. But the way that looks I'm not sure you can even do that.

Now you simply gotta get the best players you can get. Any way you can get them. Then hold on to them the best you can. When they leave you try and replace em.

It's gotta be super hard on a coach. So much more that you almost can't even get attached to those kids anymore. Sadly that's what it's coming to. A kid staying 4 years now will probably be a thing of the past. I don't even think it would be wise to plan that way.

Heck can’t even go with a one year plan since there are players that quit after 4 games so they can save their eligibility. Maybe 5 years of eligibility across the board, no more redshirt season play in up to 4 games is the way to go?

Simple solution, just stop watching. Our best player obviously just turned down the bag to stay here and try to win games for this loser program.

Your examples were of things obviously for the better. Are you saying what has taken place with cfb has been for the better?

This will eventually affect the quality of the product. And I think to an extent it already has. Teams will no longer be able to develop as many players in their system and with teams playing 16 games, we will see a lack of developed depth show up in late season games. It’s great the players are getting more opportunity, but everyone has to remember the whole sport exists for fans. And if the fans walk away because it’s madness, everyone loses.

I have scaled way back. No longer going to games in person. Need to be able to shut the TV off and walk away, and I do. Still love my team, but I can't handle it unless I can disconnect.

There are no limits now to recruiting class size so take a bunch of G5 level guys and hope a couple hit from each class. If they don’t work out, then you have them hit the portal.
I’d personally love to see us take 5 OL and 5 DL every single year so we always have dudes there. Taking 30 per class allows those numbers

The number will be close to 35-40 each year. Average time in program will only be like 2-3 years.
