Did anyone see the tweet a Music City Bowl PR rep posted via the Music City Twitter account?
"At least my team will be in a bowl game this year!!! GO Vols"

https://www.landof10.com/nebraska/l...ds-pro-tennessee-tweet-ahead-meeting-nebraska

It's bad enough that we have to play in crappy nASS-ville vs TN (a2 1/2 drive from Knoxkville) but it's obvious who the bowl wants to win the game. Can you imagine their interview for refs?

<sarcasm font>First Iowa's AD out-politicks us, stealing the Outback Bowl bid that was rightfully ours despite that extremely narrow, right-down-to-the-wire loss to the Hawkeyes. And now we've been screwed over by the not-yet-selected officiating crew that's clearly in the bag for Tennessee. </sarcasm font>

Apparently the World-is-Out-to-Get-Us mentality didn't go out the door with Bo after all.

Not sure which is sadder, that tweet or a Husker fan hanging around the bowl's Twitter account.
For the record, it was the first search on yahoo's home page after searching Music City Bowl. I get what your saying but don't assume things. I wasn't "following" their Twitter page and even if I was, why would that be sad? People like to get updates and basic FYI if they are going to the bowl game. What's sad is people who act "too cool for social media". Like their above it. I'm guessing if you went back far enough, you'd find people who were too cool for the telephone or snail mail. Keep being Mr. cool

I would guess that if there was a bowl game in Omaha that the Cornhuskers were a part of (example; Omaha Steaks Bowl) that bowl vendor would most likely be rooting on Nebraska too. Why wouldn't they support their home state?

Music City Bowl just made the mistake of showing their bias (which I don't see as a big deal).

They didn't show their bias-it was a case of somebody who worked on their social media accounts mistakenly using the official bowl twitter page instead of their personal page to express their views. It's understandable why they have people working for them who are rooting for Tennessee, but it is not OK for the official bowl page to be sending out tweets supporting them and they rightfully apologized for it.

Nashville is pretty much a pit. I'd heard such good things about it. I suppose it could be OK at night when the strip is lit up but during the day it was a dump.

Either way, I still don't see it as a big deal. From what i understand it literally changes nothing.

Is it a big deal overall? No. It's not like when bowl committee members in orange blazers were clearly cheering against us like happened in the 1984 Orange Bowl against Miami. But it was still wrong, shouldn't have happened and they needed to apologize and to their credit they did.

I think Nebraska fans should continue to play the victim in situations like this.

Will this "controversy" affect the outcome of the game? No

Will the "controversy" affect ticket sales? No

In what way does this "controversy"
affect anything related to the game? It doesn't. It's just another chance to play the faux disrespect card.

Definitely not a dump. Very progressive city!

I go there almost every year for a night or two when I go to Bonnaroo in Manchester. Maybe it's not a dump but it's not a "great trip" either if your not into Country music. And it's no Tampa and if I am an inner-city kid, I'm probably not excited about the country music HOF or the Grand Ole Opry. During Bonnaroo is the only time I'd imagine a college kid would love to be there.

Having said that, I hope this means our players will focus on football. I don't care if people believe that bowl games are glorified exhibition. A lot of the fans do not. And I am sure our coaches do not

I never thought you were hanging around there. You quoted another website. Chill or read more carefully.

I think it all depends what your frame of reference is. Many years ago a buddy of mine came out to Phoenix to visit, told me that place made Omaha look like a dump. I'm betting Nashville is also a dump. Where else are you going to get inspiration for your next poor-whoah-is-me country song?

Extra practices for guys we will count on next year......Never a negative to go to a bowl......especially if you win.

Nashville is more than country music.... find the gems.... bars off broadway that have the true musicians playing in them.... plus several gear places to eat and especially fun town to party in for all walks of life.

Nashville has a great Americana and folk scene. I would love to spend a few days there, catch the game and some shows.

I don't want to live in a "progressive" city and don't find that to be a compliment. When I hear that word, I hear "I should be able to use any restroom I want and if you don't support my candidate you're a redneck racist".

Man you are really reaching to be offended.

A nice, to the point apology from the bowl. http://www.twitlonger.com/show/n_1spcuj3

Wish we could all just admit mistakes and move on like this.

Apology not accepted.
I prefer to act all pissed off on message boards about things i'm not really all that pissed off about.

So, eff the music city bowl and the Grand ole Opry.
I hear Nashville is a dump, so nobody wants to go there anyway.

oh yeah, eff Tennessee
and Iowa while we're at it

It's a cool city. It wouldn't be my place of choice by any means but it's not a bad trip to take. Memphis, now that is a dump...

Guys, the bowl committee does NOT select the officials for the game. The officials will be assigned from a conference other than the BIG or the SEC. That will happen in EVERY bowl game.

Can the bowl comittee pay the selected officials from another conference other than BIG or the SEC under the table in a Nashville dumpy dive bar to get desired results?

I am going to the game. It starts at 2:30. The Grand ole Opry starts at 7 a couple miles away. I figure if NU goes up by 40 points or so I can leave at the beginning of the 4th and still make the show.

If I am not mistaken, Nashville and it's surrounding counties have some the highest per capita income in the country. Definitely not a dump...

Haha. I started this thread as a joke sort of but at the very least thought it was interesting and worth noting. I am basically from the south, so the tweet did not surprise me nor offend me. Most people from the south know that the term "southern hospitality" is a synonym for the word backstab.

The only real things the Music City Bowl people want is to sell tickets and have a close game. With the Vols in, I'd imagine they are extremely happy and love their chances of selling out. Neyland seats 103K every week and Nissan Stadium Capacity is 69K. So all they need is 60% of the 103K regulars to travel 2 1/2 hours on a Friday before New-Years eve and that place will be full.

My only fear with this game is the orange vs the red we will see. But hey, maybe playing UT will break our curse of these last 16 years or so. IMO the 1999 teams was the last really good husker team. The 2000 teams wasn't too shabby but IMO it was the 1999 team that was the last great one and their last game was vs UT. Maybe this brings us full circle in some crazy cosmic way and we can get back to being great again next year.
