The high 5’s were the best partThat muffed punt recovery was HUGE! Loved that he didn’t give up on the play and stayed engaged! He was a difference maker - though I wasn’t thrilled with the high fives 15 yards out and neither will Rhule be when he sees it.
I agree. RiskyI am frankly surprised that there was no flag on the play for unsportsmanlike conduct for the high five before going into the end zone. Some refs might interpret that as taunting. I remember during Osborne's tenure there was a punt or kickoff return for a TD against KSU by one of our guys who got flagged just because he started at about the ten yard line with some high stepping nonsense that earned him a penalty. The TD counted thank God, but it was still a penalty.
Mike Fullman, 1995. Same play that Mike Ruckers crackback block on a KSU defender sent the poor guys helmet about 15 feet above his head. Ah, the good old daysI agree. Risky
It's has to be refreshing for the players to have a really good idea of where they stand and aren't fed a bunch of false promises.Rhule has these kids dialed into next game, 1-0. These kids don't worry about getting starry eyed about the press clippings. The offense knows that hasn't yet played a complete game, but what they've done is enough to be 5-3. The defense could be cocky, but have chose to stay on assignment and protect the rep they are developing. This comes from honest coaching.
Frost and Bo both seemed to hate PCersI watched a replay of the PC...a couple of things struck me. First, he said the defense did not play as well as he thought originally. I believe Rhule was essentially saying we got lucky on one INT that Purdue was throwing into the wind, otherwise we may have been beaten deep. He referred to another play that we ended up defending but may have been beaten had Purdue not been throwing deep into the wind.
He also said he was happy with the oline. Pointed out that Nebraska leads the Big Ten in rushing yards (which surprised the h*ll out of me); and said that is hard to do when everyone knows you are trying to run the ball. I believe Rhule also said we lead the league in yards per pass attempt.
He rambles on quite a bit, which is not a complaint - just an observation; but he is certainly more transparent and honest than I recall Frost being.
Rhule has said a couple of times that the film doesn't lie. As for what is going on with the offensive side, Haarberg is in a phase where opponents have enough video to pick apart his tendencies in the run game. EJ continuing to develop his game will be helpful, but HH is going to have to throw more in order to loosen his run game up a bit. The circumstances of the games we've had have actually not been conducive to that. With weird turnovers at weird times, the weather, the run game doing enough to put points on the board and the D playing lights out, there really isn't a need to throw much, especially after halftime.I watched a replay of the PC...a couple of things struck me. Riley was middling as a coach, but he was a very gracious individual.Frost and Bo both seemed to hate PCers
Riley seemed to love them. Almost to the point where the reporters basically had to stop asking questions because Riley would never leave.
I'd hate the pcs too if I didn't have any answersFrost and Bo both seemed to hate PCers

You left off if you were hung over and had a tee time.I'd hate the pcs too if I didn't have any answers
I recall an Osborne Tuesday night show where something similar to that happened, and reviewing the film Coach says, See that? The host replied affirmatively and Ozzie deadpans, Well take good look because you’ll never see it again.Mike Fullman, 1995. Yes! I actually enjoy listening to Rhule because he gives real analysisI like Rhule's PC's.
So many guys go the whole time and never seem to say anything, by design. Rhule seems to be pretty forthcoming with his assessments of personnel, units, opponents, and injuries.
We really gotta act like the high five is a big deal. Jesus Christ kids only know losing and we finally have a little success. I don’t think anyone in country is gonna take that as showing up PurdueThat muffed punt recovery was HUGE! Loved that he didn’t give up on the play and stayed engaged! I HATE hotdogging but the high fives didn’t bother me. Clearly they weren’t taunting anybody or saying look at me. It was teammates celebrating a little together. I was waiting for a flag that thankfully didn’t come.No fun allowed.
Wait 15 yards to get it across - people look stupid when they celebrate early …I HATE hotdogging but the high fives didn’t bother me. Clearly they weren’t taunting anybody or saying look at me. It was teammates celebrating a little together. I was waiting for a flag that thankfully didn’t come.
On that vein, am I the only one that notices there’s more team celebrations when plays are made and less individual chest thumping?
Little guy?

I like that he is rewarding non starters with PT. The game experience is valuable and it keeps them engaged in the process. It's has to be refreshing for the players to have a really good idea of where they stand and aren't fed a bunch of false promises.
