Most pleasing win of the season

Nice to persevere and pull it out. Didn't like it as well as you though. First half was pretty ugly. And I'm guessing we've lost TA for at least a week, hope he can get back for Iowa

Without Tommy we have no chance in Iowa City. Even though it was good to squeak it out, I'm not happy with the coaching staff after this one! It's a W I guess

Good to squeak it out? Were you expecting a blowout? Didn't this game go just about like everyone expected?
No it didn't... just look at the prediction thread... seems like 50% or so picked Minnesota. So no, this did not go like everyone expected.

Yeah, for how this team is playing. I see other teams getting better as the season moves forward but we're still making the same mistakes.

What exactly are you mad about? Was it Banker's defensive changes that shut Minnesota out in the second half? The offensive possessions that allowed us to score the last 14 points?

I never expected a blowout. In the 11th week of the season I do expect much better special teams play and overall more consistency/discipline. Langsdorf had some bonehead plays called especially in 1st half. This team just can't seem to hit on all cylinders. It's good to get the W but hey, it's still the Golden Gophers we're talking about! Probably end up 9-3 so I can't complain too much after last year's debacle.

Well done by the players, stepped up and won against a decent team.... well done indeed

We are one play away in Overtime from being 9-1. yeah, we suck.

Give it a rest already! We are not playing very good ball right now, it's okay to say that! Some of you are so touchy it makes this place unbearable. Alas, nothing I said above is untrue so take a chill pill.

It was a good win. Defense improved when they needed to.
The special teams play is not ok. The punt return game is obviously not effective. We need to find a way to get him some time on returns. It's not just one guy on him, it's six. Put a second returner back for starters,
Worst special teams that I can remember when we look at the season as a whole. And we have a good kicker. Not okay and he should be fired.
None of what I said takes away from what was a good win so don't get your panties in a wad timnsun

Huh? Is this preemptive or something?

Some dumb calls on O, defense had some third down issues, penalties plus special teams botchery, but Newby and TA played to win and our D closed it out.

A win is a win. Maryland is up next.

I was wrong in my prediction for Minny to win (score wise I would've been wrong anyway). I didn't foresee a tipped ball interception in the waning minutes to save the game for us. Who knows maybe we would've won in overtime with Fyfe at the helm anyway.

Oddly enough, the finger pointers don't make a prediction to begin with, and only come squawking after the game is over. Such confidence.

Yeah, honestly I don't know what there is to be upset with the coaching staff for.[/QUOT

I was not too thrilled with the pass play on 3rd and inches in the 4th quarter. You never know what can happen on 4th down. Luckily the Huskers made it on 4th down. A false start penalty can take you away from a sure first down to having you go for a FG instead of a TD.

If you're talking about me, I guess it's just open season on me. Huskerfan1414 comes after me and now you...

I have never made a prediction in any prediction thread. I just don't. Sorry for pointing out that people didn't pick the huskers.

You just got caught in the crossfire. BUT, maybe you gain an appreciation for all those posters that want to chime in after-the-fact with no skin in the game.

I think this particular team is probably fairly close to its ceiling just between Injuries and lack of depth in certain areas and that's OK with me.

What were people expecting out of this team this year? I'm damn proud of these boys being able to beat a hot Minnesota team and put that ass kicking behind them.

Many are acting as if this Minnesota team resembles gopher teams of old (50s-90s). Minnesota was also 7-2 coming into this game. Huskers held them scoreless in the second half...covered the spread...all while dealing with a gimpy TA. Overall a decent effort IMO.

When I read this just a minute ago, that was the first it dawned on me that Fyfe would have been in at QB in OT. It probably didn't dawn on me during the game because I felt confident in our defense to make a stop since they had shut Minnesota's offense down the entire second half. That realization just scared the crap out of me.

Ya, it was a very good time and place to come up with the interception.
