Morgan/ TA

My interpretation is TA was being blitzed, Morgan should have known that and been the hot read. TA threw it to his hot read, and Morgan was angry the ball came faster than would have come on a normal route. Morgan was hot the ball was too soon, but it was his fault for not looking sooner. This could have been venting pent up frustration from all season, but who knows, maybe just a heat of the moment thing.

How can you blame him? He has about 35% of his passes that are good so he needs you to be perfect on those to make the most of his stats.

Tommy likes to show up he receivers when they don't catch a ball that he thinks should be caught. Problem is, they drop catchable balls sometimes because they are shocked he actually got the ball to them. Laughing
Ha!

Nice job by Gates of getting between them and breaking up the argument. Regardless of who instigated it, that was about to escalate into an embarrassing scene.

I also suspect that maybe, just maybe, tommy isnt as "loved" by his teammates as its made out to be. Maybe, just maybe, some think that the other guy should have played over tommy. (In the past, not the iowa game) and maybe, just maybe, tommy only played the iowa game because he wanted to and maybe, just maybe, the rest of the team didnt agree. I know i wouldnt have.

Piper speaks... it must be the truth!

thank you for saying this ... the amount of hubris TA displays is so far out of proportion to his play I can't believe it

Exactly. He's lucky one of those wideouts didn't kick his ass at some point. He's also lucky he didn't get one of the recievers killed with his inaccurate passes over the middle.

Tell Morgan to catch a ball or get open without a pick play and stfu..he dropped dimes against Ohio st....only time ever he gets open is when a dB plays off of him....TA has been bad..but the receivers have been highly overrated.
this year...when they are healthy enough to play..unlike TA who has tried to battle through every injury for this team.

If our real Captains play as hard as TA...Maybe we would have
been a better team...maybe it says something about the team for not picking him....Cause no one on this team played harder than Tommy...

Tommy is not a leader. It all started during the bo days where they told the scout team to stop picking him off. Hes arrogant and constantly points the finger. Hes a good person otherwise and plays hard.

He damn sure led this piss poor offensive line and offense to 9 wins.......would have been one
without him.
I said he plays hard, he does. He is not a leader.
I kmow you are a big time armstrong fan and i dont like people blaming him for losses either, but he isnt a leader. Hes good at calling others out...pointing the thumb not so much.

I happy to be moving on. This staff doesn't know how to use a QB like TA.

I'm sure this offense will do better with a more accurate QB. Much better if our line can step up. The kid Stan will benefit.

I have a few thoughts on this situation. I am sure SM and others may be frustrated with a running QB's non-ability to throw to the open guy like he was Drew Breis. I thought Tommie made the correct hot read and SM just wasn't prepared for the actual correct read. Stanley is the man and I love watching him play as physical as he does. I also think Tommie throwing 38 times is like asking Peyton Manning to go run 10 read/option plays in a game. If it is required, you are only asking for trouble. Final point was when Nick Gates grabbed SM by the facemask and shoved him away from his QB. Gates showed true leadership IMO and separated the two so a stupid scene did not happen on the field like Morgan would have done. Dylan Utter took over and walked SM away on the sideline. After that, SM seemed to play much better. Oddly enough, those two lineman have been the leading names out there who threw out the racial slur that the Iowa linemen never actually said. Has the actual name been named on that situation? I am sure I am not the only fan that wants to know the real story on that.

If people out there think there wasnt a divide in the locker room on who the qb should be then you are fooling yourselves. Not just talking the iowa game, i mean for the last 2 years. Ryker may not have the armstrength that tommy did, but the flow of the offense and deciscion making he had just make you think, what if? What if he had the starting job that tommy inherited? Kid never got a chance. I know, practice and bla bla and coaches see him everyday in practice. Sometimes kids like ryker look average in practice, but games are not practice, unless nu practiced full speed and just like a live game. Did they? From what i hear, our practices are a joke. From what i understand, our practices vs a real game are not the same. So tommy looked better than ryker doing drills in our patty cake practices. Wonderful. Tommy looks like crap in games deciscion wise and keeping flow. Tommy couldnt even go thru progressions, at least ryker did. Im sure the players on the team knew this too, especially the recievers. All came to a head when the best option wasnt put on the field by our .500, really nice coach.

Oh please fool,Ryker would have had only 2-3 wins under center.

This. Spot on. Morgan has bailed TA's ass out all year only to catch grief from him at the slightest mistake

Yes, it was clearly more than just frustration about that one failed connection. Morgan was really hot about something.

I don't know, RF had a lot of time to try and pass TA on the depth chart, and he never did. Even if he was just as good, which isn't clear, you wouldn't expect any more wins than we had. TA definitely had a ceiling in his passing and decision-making, but I never saw anything to make me think that RF had fewer limitations.

Ryker had a 49% comp rate this season...even worse than Tommy, he wasn't the answer either.

Too late - it was already embarrassing. Iowa players noticed and knew we were an emotionally unstable group and took full advantage of it.

I think if they had made Ryker the starting QB last year, we might have a more cohesive offense at this point. I agree with your premise, but I'm not sure the record would be any better though. As much as I despise TA as a QB, Ryker is not exactly clutch either. It is true that there have been issues with certain WR's, which were immediately shut down anytime a criticism of TA happened. It isn't often you would ever see an OL go to bat for TA (or T-Mart for that matter). I'm just thankful this is over after the bowl game.

As to the coaches, I think it's okay to question their decision making. He probably tried to not rock the boat. We also saw a different TA in the beginning of the season, so they did try to make it work. There will be a heck of a lot less leeway with this staff going forward because they will have more of their players in key positions. What sucks is watching us waste two years in transition. Then we get to do this all over again in a few more years when coach retires.

Overrated would rather win the games that count and play for conference titles and big bowl games/ national titles.

I would be interested to see if any other 4 yr starter at a blue blood program or even power 5 school has accomplished so little during their tenure. He has yet to even achieve honorable mention all conference ... Maybe this year will be the first although his conference numbers would suggest he hasn't earned it ... 50% completion 7tds. 7ints
