Mizzou expects its fall freshman enrollment (deposits due Monday) to be a shade under 4,000, down from 4,800 in 2016, ~6,000 in 2015 and the record ~7,000 in 2014. Roughly 40% drop in three years! If it continues, it could mean more than 10,000 fewer students at Mizzou in 3-4 years compared with just a couple of years ago.

Many parents I know (I am in St Louis) will not consider Mizzou right now. Literally is toxic waste. Other state schools are booming as a result. Missouri State will be close in enrollment to Mizzou shortly if the trend continues. My youngest will be a freshman at Truman State this fall (better school than Mizzou anyway).

On a side note, many have wondered on here why Mizzou is in the discussion for some recruits in the state, more than in the past. I give Barry Odom credit as he has sought hard to overcome the damage Gary Pinkel did (in St Louis especially). Gary would slow-play kids to the point coaches and players just ignored them. Odom has been aggressive with early offers and has been in town speaking and visiting schools.

Another name to watch that is blowing up here is 2019 OLB M J Anderson at CBC. He just got offered by South Carolina. The 2019 Trinity Catholic crew (Isaiah Williams and Marcus Washington are both 4-stars and Shammond Cooper has several good offers) is getting offers from all over. Bama, Stanford, Oregon and Auburn were just a few of the schools through town this week. Competition is going to be tough!
