Riley alluded to a continuing effort to change the way players are thinking. D. Benning talked about it this morning. In some of the prolific losses during Pelini's tenure, the team seemed to collapse, fold, give up or whatever you want to call it. It's like they were afraid to fail and forgot how to win. So a big part of what Riley and his staff have to do this year is teach resiliency, confidence and how to win again. Against Southern Mississippi, that seemed to be an issue. It certainly will down the road.
I wondered if the team is getting and sports psychologist assistance they had received in the past (Jack Stark). It seems like that and the old Unity Council was a big asset.
It doesn't make up for upgraded recruiting and better coaches, but it might help.
