Millard North Football

Understand if you don’t want to expand further, but I’m interested in what uglier issues you’re referring to?

I have a lot of stories myself being there when we played in back to back state championships. The only things I remember we’re that if you played on the team you do get special privileges, & even some teachers would kind of fanboy out or let you come into class late as you want — besides coach Salberg of course lol. You could also fight in the locker room area and no matter what it’s handled internally by coaches, not suspensions or school administration.
Looks like we were at MN about the same time.

Looks like he's got some good size at 6'4" but a needs to put on some more muscle if he's still 160 as listed on the roster. I know the D-coordinator Chavez's son Rocky is on the team as well. I haven't watched any games in years but might check them out this year.
2021 MN (and Westside) rosters

I guess I am not 100% sure how it works at the BPS...can you just opt in?
Yes...BWest and Millard South are open enrollment. And both teams are good at football. 30% of BWest football players don't live within 20 miles of BWest. And the other 70% don't even contribute. Yet Gretna gets their championship taken away because supposedly 1 kid didn't live in the district. It's a shitty system.

But honestly, why did every single school including in the middle of nowhere get an in-state tour but not Millard North?

Academics and hoops only now.
I feel old as hell looking at it but they won a state title in 2015. That would be like KU saying they dropped basketball to focus on their football program. My hunch is that someone pissed of rivals which is entirely possible now that Joe Petito (Fred’s son) is now the offensive coordinator lol

Hard to believe it was only 6 seasons ago. I didn't know Joe was OC......I'm sure there are a lot of new, creative ideas just like in Lincoln.

No kidding.

A HS kid takes some protein powder that they bought from Walmart and it turns into them taking steroids.

It wasn't unheard of to get supplements that were contaminated or if you go back to like the 90's and maybe early 00's you could get "stuff" at legit places like GNC.

This thread is funny though I remember back in the day seeing a fairly prominent MN alumnus on UNL campus looking small and a little thin in the hairline and wondering what was going on. Winking

the system isnt broke. you get the right athletes and they cant be beat

if you look at the OL/DL types for MN and then compare them with the other two Millard schools, it's night and day. Just no way MN can run the ball like they used to. Last year, their QB could throw a bit and then like was mentioned itt, they had some athletes on the outside.

I respectfully disagree. Two years ago, the MN tackles were both at least 325 lbs. The center and the two guards were 260-285. The two years before that, they had other 300 pounders. But in 2020, the fullback was not fast enough.

Last year the fullback was about 180 pounds. The tackles, both first time starters were barely at 250 pounds.

For 2022, I project the tackles to be about 275 and 240. The center and right guard (three year starters) should both be close to 290.

I know this is a MN thread but Westside has 15 assistant coaches? That seems like a lot!

A lot of unpaid or very low paid guys just want to stay involved. I coach three softball teams for free, so I know the feeling.

A tooooooooon of "hanger ons" on football staffs.

You also have a lot of coaches that will have every coach 9-12 get listed/picture with varsity.

You also get a lot of dad-coaches that basically show up once or twice a week. Those are usually the guys that are the most fun and pick up the tab! Ha

I played at MN in the early 2000's and couldn't help but wonder why they weren't included in the In-state football tour?

Did coach Petito or someone else piss someone off? I think they've struggled a bit lately but I can't imagine there's not at least one future D1 kid on the team now.

Just wondering if anyone knows what the deal is?

GBR.

Huskers offer 2025 Safety Caden Vermaas.

I may be “that guy” right now, but just checked on Zane Flores who is undefeated 7-0, having played some of the big boy teams already.
17 passing TDs + 6 rushing TDs = 3+ TDs per game. 65% completions, over 1500 yards in 7 games… only 3 INTs.

William “Pop” Watson has only played 3 games (did he get hurt?)
3 passing TDs vs 2 INTs; 2 rushing TDs; similar YPG thrown: 62% comp.

At a glance, and I’ll stop there, Flores is “crushing the competition.”

Flores is better, there’s never been any doubt

“trust the coaches” said many an idiot

f*ck the coaches (frost/whip(who I like)), said I. should’ve gotten him

best NE prospect in like 3 decades

unforgivable that he’s not N. I put it 100% on our former coach who is an embarrassment to his state/town/family/school

I wish I was young enough to play H.S. football again. I would not mind coaches yelling at me ... again.
That's me going offsides at 19:39. I got pulled from the game with seconds left. I could have sworn I had a sack the play before. Fun times!

I played at Brentwood N.Y. Mitch Kupchak played basketball at Brentwood. Sachem is the school Jumbo Elliot played at. Many years later.

Is your guy going after him hard now?

The rules need to be the same for everybody.
