I wasn’t able to watch this basketball loss. What happened? Tom Izzo is just brilliant? Matched up poorly? Play poorly? Combination of these?

Other than that black eye, I feel good about our season.

We looked really slow at every position compared to MSU. We have more size this year, but their size was stronger and faster than ours.

Couldn't put the ball in the basket at all for most of the 2h. They out toughed and out athleted us as well.

Also was probably the worst officiated game I’ve ever seen. And that’s not really an exaggeration. Everything you said is true and I’m not sure we were gonna win that game even if it was officiated somewhat fairly. (probably a lot closer though) But it’s pretty damn easy to out physical a team when your players allowed to gang rape the other team and if they look at you wrong it’s a foul.

I remember at least 3-4 rebounds in the 1st half where the MSU player clearly went over our players back and clobbered him for the rebound and the refs called the foul on our guy? WTF, our player had clear position and he just got clobbered from behind and you call a foul on my guy? Then their was a ridiculous flagrant foul call and the play where the MSU player slid across the floor a throw an ally oop from the ground in which everyone in the arena but refs thought he traveled.

My take is that the refs were Izzo’s m drinking buddies and let his team mug us. It completely threw any rhythm off we had. The flip side was we couldn’t sneeze on Sparty without a whistle. You get in that kind of game early and you tend to get intimidated. We got dominated physically and looked slow in part because of what the stripes let MSU get away with. JMO.

And to add more to this observation, momentum is a helluva thing. MSU eventually got to play fast and loose. They seemed to shoot/make way more 3 pointers than normal. NU played tight and shot horribly. A bad combination.

The big thing is since the MSU game, they came back and pounded Indiana and won 3 straight games on a neutral court against some quality competition.

Nobody even remembers the MSU game anymore, especially the players and coaches. That is a good thing.

I remember it

Don’t. It is now meaningless in the grand scheme of things. I can almost guarantee the players and coaches aren’t talking about a game played nearly 3 weeks ago.

Other than an example of B1G bias, which is constant as NU is not considered a “blue blood” in BB, not worth worrying about. Of course, if it becomes common for the Huskers to get blown out then that is a different story.

It will probably be used by the selection committee to keep us out of the tourney….

I throw that game out the window as it was obviously crooked from the start. The real issue is getting to the bottom of why the fvck that is allowed to happen.

It was an anomaly. Not a representation of these kids. And you know what.....it was the best damn thing to happen to this year's team. I don't we win the Hawaii tourney without that loss. And I think we learned we need to practice better and bring our defense on the road.
