Michigan has become the first college football program to pay three assistant coaches a $1 million or more per year.

Next season the Wolverines will pay defensive coordinator Don Brown $1 million a year in each of the first four years of his contract and $1.4 million in 2021, with retention bonuses in each of the first four years.

Offensive coordinator Tim Drevno will be paid $1 million a year.

And new passing game coordinator Pep Hamilton, who coached with the Cleveland Browns a year ago, will be paid roughly $1.06 million per year over a four-year contract ($4.25 million).

Last season, according to USA Today, just 12 assistant coaches in all of FBS football earned $1 million or more per year.
