UM looked good against a good Bama team. But Washington sure looked really good against a good Texas team last night.

So the best QB the wolfs faced all years was who? McCord? And he almost beat him and that was at Michigan, right?

Penix is way better than him and this is neutral...
the last time Penix played Mich was his Soph year at indiana

put up 38 points in a win

one thing's for sure - he won't be intimidated

McCord or the UNLV QB

I believe the game is going to be decided by the Washington defense. Texas ran the ball fairly successfully against Washington. Michigan will run the ball more than the 28 times Texas did if they can get the 6 ypc that the Longhorns did. Then they will attempt to control the time of possession and limit the number of times Washington has the ball. I would bet that Washington doesn't get 12 possessions in a 4 quarter game.

wolverines always beat huskies. qb-w, wr-w, db-w
rb-m, ol-m, dl-m
lb-idk
special teams may make the difference as always.

The Huskies certainly have a knack for winning close contests.

I'll root for Michigan, but if Washington sends the PAC-12 out with a national title it won't ruin my night.

Michigan is the more complete team by a long shot. They have what is likely the only defense in the entire country that can play Washington's receivers straight up. Washington's defense is also a sieve. I think Michigan wins and it won't be particularly close.

Again. What were they.. a 10 point dog to Oregon ?
I admittedly don't know much about gambling (or probably football for that matter, lol) but I still find it shocking that Oregon was a 10 point favorite in that game. Not necessarily that Oregon was the favorite just that the spread was so large.

Yep. Michigan just needs to pound it against UW.

I say UW by 3 - 7 points. Obviously Michigan just played 2 tough games in the last 3 but I feel like UW has been battle tested all season. Dillon being hurt obviously hurts UW.

The fact that the Huskies won a close one in Seattle first game and Oregon was playing better at the end of the zone had something to do with it, especially when the Huskies won on a last second FG to beat WSU the week before..

Except that Ohio State-Michigan is a huge rivalry game. Bama should have lost to Auburn who is terrible. Not saying your wrong but Tread lightly using those kinda games for barometers...

Not if they’re down.

Mich abandoned their identity immediately against tcu last year.

Also - they run a lot of trick plays in these playoff games and none of them ever seem to work. Harbaugh seems to pucker up in these games.

And wtf was Michigan doing on special teams? Is that a result of feeling the pressure? I feel like Washington runs them if Michigan does that in the championship game.

Penix Jr is the best I saw on that day. Based on that day only, if I were a gm and needed a qb, that's who I'd take. If I didn't I would trade out a spot to someone that needed him. Could get a very lucrative trade

That's the crazy thing. Most people say Penix is the 4th qb taken. The Bears could possibly take MH Jr. at #1, trade Fields, and get Penix at #10 if they wanted.

Raiola=Penix. Both are accurate passers and can throw the long ball as well as can run. Penix should of been Heisman this year and I hope we can keep Raiola healthy during his term at Nebraska.

I just don’t see Washington being able to stop Michigans run game. If they stay with their power run identity, I think Michigan by 7-10. If they get away from that or turn the ball over and get behind, I can see a Washington win in a close one. I think the safer play is Michigan laying the points but if it gets north of 6, I’ll play Washington ML for the value

If Michigan remembers who they are and just plays smash mouth football, doesn't make any costly mistakes and are mildly competent on special teams, then this game shouldn't be all that close. It will be similar to the Ohio State - Oregon matchup in the 2015 natty game. Michigan should dominate the LOS.

This is a terrible matchup for Washington.

can easily say the same for Michigan

haven't seen anything close to this kind of speed/skill on the outside or Penix, who lit them up the only time he played them at Indiana.

Washington has the best OL in the country. something nobody here is discussing, because nobody here has seen them play more than maybe twice all season.

same Texas DL that owned Bama was completely neutralized by this UW OL.

What he did at Indiana 3 years ago is a non factor.

Again IF Michigan is averaging 6.4 yards per carry, as Texas did, they won't throw the ball 43 times like Texas did.

I don't know if Washington has faced a team that will pound the ball like Michigan can.

If you can't get pressure on Penix, they are going to move the ball. They have all year. Then Michigan's offense has to score points.
UM's team is built around the defense, which they expect to control the game. They pressure Penix, they win. If they don't they will be on the back foot and probably not win.
