The guy is genuine, and comes across like a guy that had an opportunity to come to one of the best programs in the country and leaped at the chance.
He gets where we are as a program. He mentioned a couple things that makes me say this...
He talked about watching the ticker on the bottom of the TV of the 'top 25' scores and that when there's no Nebraska, it's not acceptable. He said something like, "no offense to the B1G Network, but we need to be playing on ABC in primetime". This will change.
He talked about how football MUST be healthy for an Athletic Department to be successful. He said that when football is healthy, the boats will rise. He's a football guy through and through, no doubt about it. And for that I am so thankful for the hire that RG and HB made. Kudos gents.
The BEST comment he made: Nebraska must own the West. It will be NU vs. Wisconsin EVERY YEAR for the West.
Lots of smiles in our future, he said.
My BIL and I left thinking there's little chance for HCMR to survive. It became apparent that he wants to hire a proven winner, and I think CK is much more realistic than maybe I even thought. I think the flavor of the day type hire is not his cup of tea. He knows he has the budget and the program to go get a race horse, and I think he will.
There was a lot more, but that's enough for now. At the end of the day we left feeling like our football program was about to become relevant again, for the first time in a very long time. I truly think this guy can bring us back.
