Is it true that several auto brands ( Chev & Ford included) use the very same transmissions in their new cars & trucks . Bought from a third party like Allison , etc. ? When I worked for GM years back this was not the case . Enlighten me .. Side story = when my '92 mustang 5.0 trans failed & had to be replaced we could no longer get parts & had to buy a generic trans . Works fine but it surprised me that Ford no longer had parts needed .
