Great pick-up! Anyone else think we'll land at least one more over the weekend after FNL? I have an INKLING.

We got a keeper! Here is just part of his statement: "
Louisiana is nice, sure, but I enjoy a good jacket and a snowstorm. I love soaking my legs in ice and feeling a wind whip across your face. There’s something to be said about someone who can play in those conditions. I can’t wait to experience Memorial Stadium on a late November Saturday with the Big Ten West on the line.

But it’s the people of Nebraska — not the winter months — that makes it special. "

The whole statement is an absolute must read:

LINCOLN — Matthew Anderson is 6-foot-6, 255 pounds and the No. 1 singles tennis player at Leesville (Louisiana) High School. An Eagle Scout who plans to get all the badges before he graduates, Anderson is also captain — and founder — of the chess team. Undefeated among his peers, too.

No. 1 singles at 6'6" 255 lbs.? Can't say I've ever seen that from an OL recruit. I think it's safe to say that footwork and lateral agility won't be a problem.

An Eagle Scout? Don't think work ethic will be a problem.

Captain and founder of the chess team? Don't think IQ will be a problem.

Plays for his late mother? Don't think motivation will be a problem.

“Nebraska is a perfect place for an offensive lineman with my skill set,” Anderson said. “I love the Midwestern values, and I also have that switch I can flip.”

Welcome aboard, young man.

He's Max Fischer. Just bigger.

I’ll admit, I was not all that jazzed about his potential commitment two weeks ago. But now I see there a lot of good raw materials to work with here!

Assuming he means the "thug nasty" switch.

Well written. Kid seems pretty smart, you definitely want that in an offensive lineman.

They just may have stolen one here. Sounds like he's pretty under the radar right now but they like his upside. Heart goes out to him, it's got to be brutal to lose your mom at that age.

I think this is a Home Run. Did you see the photo of him and his dad? Sign his dad up too!

What a well written statement, you can tell he’s intelligent and grounded...had me fired up to play. Couldn’t agree more, he’d have a lot of D1 over the next yr once coaches discovered him. Welcome to the Husker family M.A.

Kind of reminds me of L Murtha. Hopefully I spelled that right. Hopefully he doesn’t have the injuries Murtha did but sounds like he’s a big athletic OL just like Murtha.

“After talking to Coach Duval, I was just like, ‘Wow,’” Anderson said recently. “I could tell that they don’t just want me to lift 1,000 pounds or something. They want me to be healthy and they want me to be good at football. I can tell that they’re going to get me strong and everything that comes with college football in the weight room, but they also want me to be healthy, and that’s one of my biggest things.”
