Marshall opting out of the Independent bowl against Army

This probably makes the most sense. The hometown school. The vast majority of their roster is probably Louisiana or close proximity and can get kids back faster. They are 5-7 . I know they are not the highest 5-7 academic pick.
All 3 of their QBs went into the portal.i would think that’s the reason they opted out.
I think Marshall should take who they have left. If they lose 66-0 oh well we all know they lose 1/4 of the team. But to sue them would be unfounded. Best thing would ne to not let players transfer until Jan 1
True but that's not today's reality. Not unsympathetic but.... glad they're able to find replacement. Makes sense since not far away so limited travel expenses

I don’t. The players wanted this insane environment. They wanted unlimited transfers and pay-for-play. Some of them were bound to be left behind or screwed over by the system.
Put Marshall on a five year bowl probation, but don’t announce it until after the game has been played
They are paid now. De’Vondre Campbell refuses to play and will no longer play for the 49ers. You refuse to work are you expecting not to be fired? They wanted paid, here you go. Get out there and play.
How do you think that Indiana got so good this year? It's bs that this is happening. Kids should be committing to the school. But they're not committed any longer. I can't wait until it's ruled unconstitutional to be committed over a month. /s
Over time, and the ever increasing pot of cash growing, the law of large numbers say most kids will wind up at the level they actually belong.
That works both ways .The Schools pull scholarships offers all the time. You think it was Bear Tenney or Bryson Hayes idea to decommitt from us. .
The first year the AP voted after the bowl was the 1965 season. That's why Nebraska and Alabama played for a national title in the 1966 Orange Bowl that season. Teams ahead of them lost (No. 2 Arkansas in the Cotton Bowl versus LSU, and No. 1 Michigan State versus UCLA in the Rose Bowl), setting up No. 3 Nebraska vs. No. 4 Alabama in the Orange Bowl.
Alabama won 39-28, and the AP later that week voted them No. 1. MSU had won the final UPI poll prior to the bowl season.
In 1964, Alabama was voted No. 1 in both the final AP and UPI polls, done before the bowl season. The Tide then lost to Texas in the Orange Bowl but still won both titles.
These kids and some people don’t realize the amount of money these universities spend on recruiting these players. I agree if Indiana didn’t bring 1/4 of cignettis former school they’d still suck
Thanks for the corrections! Important to get the history right. I always thought one of the polls did not count the bowl games until 1971 which is why Texas claimed a share of the title in 1970 with us.
I can't remember what I had for dinner last night, but I remember the '60s and '70s like it was this afternoon. Thank dog I can remember the good ol' days, though.
Nebraska knew it and quit participating several years ago..... notnsure what this December practice is all about.
Bowl games have been lame for a long time. Post season means nothing unless you’re playing for the championship. It’s even hard to bet on too. Not just from players leaving, but also the motivation factor from each team.
Yeah, I pretty much stopped watching most bowl games some years back. Most don't mean much. Now, with 12 playoff teams, they are basically irrelevant. The only one I'll probably watch is the one Nebraska plays in. I also hate the playoff game tie-ins to the big bowls of yesteryear. It's really not the Rose Bowl if it's a playoff game.
