Keep the processing rolling. Loved the kids story, but glad this is happening. 105 is a whole new animal and need to keep this up to get to where we need to go.

Agreed, the piss poor blocking we've seen has been an indictment on the coaching staff. There's zero reason a 6'3" bigger bodied receiver couldn't be able to learn to block. That is, unless the issue has just never been addressed in practices. There's a common denominator behind the multiple instances on the roster.
Yeah I'm really tired of guys with zero desire taking up roster spots. If he transfers he likely won't be anything special anywhere else.
Wandale Robinson is a completely different story. That guy threw everything he had into playing wherever Frost asked him. Frost having him run up the middle three plays in a row was misuse of a player and it was a rare time when I really thought it was in the player's best interest to transfer away.
I want more Wandale Robinsons.

Agreed. Blocking is entirely learnable and it's a matter of focus and attitude to learn to do it well. Sometimes receivers only really care about catching the ball and don't focus on running good routes and blocking. NFL receivers are expected to block well so these guys might as well learn it now if they hope to play at the next level.
It always made so much sense to see a 175 pound receiver/running back slamming into 300 pound DTs. Especially since the OL was a completely inept as run blocking.
Attitude and chemistry across the board are what make good teams. All good teams have it. We don’t. Rhule claimed he was going to create that culture. Then he didn’t. Coleman is probably a good example of a talented kid with a poor attitude. If he really is leaving the team it will s probably a good sign of change in the air.
IDK, his recruiting ranking was based solely on physical attributes. He never really had eye popping stats as a high school player. As has been stated in this thread, maybe he just didn't have the love of the game to play at a P4 level.
I spent a ton of time around this kid and his HS team. A ton. I am 0% surprised by this. I wont rag on the kid, I was sort of pulling for him, although it was hard because I have seen some stuff that I didn't agree with from him, but Im not putting any of this on the program.
seems like Coleman had speed, could get separation, and could block...so does he have bad hands or missed practice? whats the issue?
Yeah, I thought he made some good blocks last year too. Maybe I’m remembering wrong?
Don’t believe he had ever gotten his routes down, at least last year. That’s what limited them on when they could use him.
It sounds like he has missed a lot of time. He had the should surgery and has been in and ou of practice with injuries all year. I think it was a recurring theme last year, too. You can't talk about competition and then just turn around and play a guy that doesn't practice.

I think this is probably true. And quite likely true as well for many highly rated recruits coming out of high school who end up not doing much in college
Ya, his physical attributes were really impressive, that size and speed combo is rare. But you can have all the athletic ability in the world and still not be a good football player. Whether it's desire/drive, work ethic, etc. sometimes there's just something missing.

Yep. He was a project that didn't pan out. With his size and speed he should have dominated Nebraska HS football and he didn't whatsoever. I didn't mind taking a flier on him, but now with the 105.... Too bad he didn't put it all together, but time to move on.
And you shouldn’t. I know little about the kid. But I have seen more than enough posts from OPs like yourself on both boards that seems to be in the know about this kid and are not surprised. So I have come to the conclusion that in this situation it is player Problem and not a program culture problem.
I like most of the posts on this matter. Regardless of what he does it would be crappy to bang on the guy throughout a thread. This isn't intended to be laudatory toward him. I wish he could have worked out here because as many have said, he has some top-shelf physical attributes but the team really needs more Kenny Bells than projects. Hoping MC finds what he's looking for.

this is a seriously flawed statement. reality is that youngsters in the midlands most often develop late - in college - because high schools up here do not practice football 24/7/365 as they do in the south. texas recruiting was often off because they took 4/5* texas high school kids who were spent by the time they got to austin.
It’s crazy to me that we have three local 4 star wr’s come to Nebraska and no one is high on any of them
That’s probably going to change in the offseason Jmo, but it’s not good when your new oc calls out the receivers and running backs without saying any names, sure doesn’t reflect good for that position coach
