Malachi Coleman visiting Colorado

There’s a Wiltfong bomb for Coleman to CU.

Uh oh
Good for Coleman. I'm not saying we don't want him because we do, but he is a project and for a high 4 star it isn't like he lit up teams. With the correct coaching he could be really good, but still is pretty raw and kind of an unknown. Also have heard there is some red flags with the kid. Would love to have the speed and size as I think Rhule could develop him, but next man up./

Coleman will never get the love in Colo. that he will get from Nebraska and it's fans. I think Sanders will bail on CU the first time he gets a big offer from an elite school or NFL. jmo

I've never seen the kid play and have no idea if there is any truth to red flag rumors. But I do know we've had alot of 4 star recruits in recent years that fit that profile and it seems to be one of the reasons the program is where it is. If he seems himself as a good fit for Sanders/CU, he probably isn't a good fit for NU.

Now people can talk positive again, whew.
Still not sold. Maybe he’s been solid the entire time but this team doesn’t need anymore drama and I doubt Rhule is going to want to deal with it. Like I said earlier I think he has a chance to be a great player. Has extreme speed for a big dude, just thought he would have dominated a little more in HS. I hope we land him, but don’t want the drama

Drama? Top recruits get recruited and should participate. GMAFB.

I get the sense that Rhule will figure out the right buttons to push. If Coleman, or anyone else for that matter, aren’t open to it, they’ll move on.

Something about all moving in the same direction that Rhule has talked a lot about. Hope it isn’t just lip service.

FWIW I think ON3 had him at 98 % N the whole time

I'd think Coleman's tweet directed at Rhule after he'd been to Colorado is the bigger tip off. He either hadn't decided at that point and wanted to talk some more to Rhule about it or he had decided on NU. At any rate I don't think if had already decided on Colorado he'd be tweeting at Rhule.

Regardless of what Coleman decides, the WR room needs some serious work. As Dingle and I had a "discussion" about the ability of the skilled guys, I decided to look up some stats.

Potentially Returning (I have no idea where some of these guys are in graduating with the extra year)
Washington - 31 receptions
Brown - 16
Grant - 18
Belt 7
Boerkircher - 6
A few more with 1 or 2 receptions

Graduated or leaving
Palmer - 71
Vokolek - 20
Martin - 11
Castaneda - 5
Brewington - 11
Manning - 4

Remember when Manning committed and he was a can't miss kind of guy? I do, this board was ecstatic. I couldn't believe, in Whips O he only had 4 catches, so much for potential on paper. Casteneda had more receptions than Manning and only played in 4 games as I recall.

There either needs to be an improved ground attack or some guys are going to have to step up in the passing game. If the top two guys double their catches for next year, it would be around 90 which is about what Palmer and Vok had this year alone without the other guys.

I know every year people play the replacement game where they plug a name in and that is supposed to be the ticket but aside from Palmer, when does it really happen?

I agree with you completely. WR and TE still need addressed through the portal.

Well…technically it happens every 1-3 years. When big producers leave, others transfer in or step up production. Somebody has to. They do and it will be no different next season. Toure, Morgan, Speilman, Bell, Enunwa, Alonzo Moore etc. most of those guys were “home grown” and increased production during their time here.

The transferring and quitting seemed to really ramp up under Frost, but obviously it ramped up at all other schools too. The lack of development would be a logical reason as to why Frost constantly relied on transfers and Freshman. It’s kind of incredible how close we were in most games considering how disfunctional the program was.

Washington and Brown are fantastic candidates to step into much bigger roles. They looked great 95% of the time the ball went their way. I like Victor Jones as a sleeper candidate and a guy I think Rhule will like on the outside.

It is silly to blame Manning's lack of production on Whip or any scheme when we all know that Manning is the problem with Manning.

I’m not reading that much into it just because Malachi stated all along he wanted to take all his visits just to get out and see different places. He committed earlier than expected originally, but the turmoil offered a new opportunity.

He also visited Nebraska the past two weekends in a row (for like the 10th time or so it seems), including a second OV.

He’s not a lock to stay with Nebraska by any means, but taking the visit to Colorado doesn’t tell me we’ve lost him.

seems like he put a lot more effort into his twitter feed than making plays last year. Im all for his stars to help boost our class, but after that, its a big question mark for me dawg
