Malachi Coleman visiting Colorado

In 50+ years of following NU football, I can't ever think of a NE high school recruit signing with CU. Guessing there has been, but if so, they are few and very far between.
I remember a big lineman from Scottsbluff going to CU in the 80s, Dean Davis. Boulder is like 200 miles from Scottsbluff, so almost understandable....more CU/Wyo fans in that area than one might think.

Kinda get the feeling he doesn't know what he wants, at all. Possible he isn't the type that can deal with being in a fishbowl, and isn't all that excited about playing here.

Let him go. The drama of “I’ll only play for a wife-beating loser” sounded exactly like shit Frost said when he was hired. The juice ain’t worth the squeeze on this one. I wonder if he will take his fake knee brace along on his CU trip?

The juice is definitely worth the squeeze with this young man. He has the world by the tail right now, and he’ll do what’s in his best interest—I would love to be in his shoes

I’ll ‘root’ for him to be successful wherever he chooses

Edit: corrected for the ‘Turbo Nerd’ grammar police on this board

Like, you'll actively follow his career and root for him, wherever he goes?

Are you not happy in your shoes?

What if he chooses Colorado? You will root for him week 2? Or if we play Colorado in the Fiesta Bowl in 4 years?

I’m not reading that much into it just because Malachi stated all along he wanted to take all his visits just to get out and see different places. He committed earlier than expected originally, but the turmoil offered a new opportunity.

He also visited Nebraska the past two weekends in a row (for like the 10th time or so it seems), including a second OV.

He’s not a lock to stay with Nebraska by any means, but taking the visit to Colorado doesn’t tell me we’ve lost him.

Always pull for our local kids regardless

Yes, I wouldn’t mind being in their position at the moment

How could Deion be able to play the NFL card? Who has he put in the NFL?

Also not sure what Zimmer has to do with a WR recruit.
I most certainly think Deion and Zimmer have more NFL front office personnel - coaches (offense and defense) and agent contacts who will answer on the first ring than Rhule and White

Do we have a WR Coach yet?

What's wrong with your position?
Why do you keep pushing the guy on this? Can't speak for him, but I can confidently say as a mid 40's non-athlete that my position sucks. That's why it's appealing to think about what it would be like to be a highly touted athlete. Yep. It's an enviable position to be where some of these athletes are. And lots of fans are very happy with their own position, and some like myself are secure in reporting our miserable positions in life. On the other hand, that $100 discount on season tickets is a nice fleeting shot of happiness.

Not sure why there is so much shock and awe here. Dude got an invitation to visit Deion Sanders after the coach that recruited him is not only gone, but a potential convicted abuser. Wouldnt you take that visit?

Do we have a single closer on the staff? Too many bigger recruits coming to Lincoln and leaving still “looking”.
Why the hand-wringing when they are only weeks into this recruiting process? This staff has secured 4 commitments in the last 10 days or so. More will commit. Are you surprised that some are reluctant to come to Nebraska considering what we have been the last 10 years?

This year’s class will not be the greatest, although we are in on some good prospects. Watch the product on the field next year and have a full recruiting cycle for this staff and maybe they will close better.

I just don’t get jumping to conclusions like this so early in the process.

He was committed to Frost and Mickey and they are gone. Can’t blame a kid for looking around.

Unfortunately, 20 years of losing will do this, these high school kids do not have the love of DONU like we do on message boards.

Let Rhule and company do their job and see where the pieces fall where they may. Building a successful program that wins will cure many issues we currently face.

There have been a few. A Scottsbluff tackle (maybe his name was Davis?) in the early 70s. A linebacker from Westside in perhaps the mid-80s. I don't remember his name, but he and NU LB Danny McCoy tangled during a kick return in a game in Boulder. Apparently the bad blood went back to HS (McCoy played at Prep).
QB Ted Cox from Gretna signed with CU in 1972 but ended up playing baseball exclusively. He still holds some pitching records for the now-defunct CU baseball program.

And I don’t get not being able to add an assessment on this board without it being full on sunshine pumping.

This staff has a couple of guys that are really just now cutting their teeth in actual recruiting in Dvoracek and Knighton. You’ve got guys like Raiola and Barthel that are really just in year 1 full cycle of recruiting. And basically everyone except Don is new to Lincoln and the university of Nebraska so that makes it that much harder on them.

And yes Of course it’s hard on them, right now. The only thing they know that they are really selling right now is football and even that is still a little grey because it’s the first year these guys are all together.

I have no doubt that we will eventually get top notch recruits from some of these guys but we just don’t have a “hot water to people in hell” kind of closer. Not yet anyways. Don’t be so dam sensitive about it. Iowa never has had one. Ever
