One game at a time as always and we do need to win today (Air Force game 2) b/c +.500, right?

So, the schedule - 34 games left with a max of 50 on the season (assuming a couple make-up games happen) and possible less than 48 for the year. 46, 47 games is very possibly our whole season this time around. We're just gonna have to make good with what we have and the schedule actually has plenty of good opportunities.

The next five weeks are full of winnable games.

Two home series -
MSU (3-15)
Purdue (4-15)
Three road series -
@Minnesota (5-13)
@Penn St (13-3) Woof!
@Iowa (9-7)
Throw in six games with Creighton, KSU and UNO (combined 29-20-1)

Five weeks, 21 games and a huge chance to roll up some wins. And, boy are we gonna need to roll up those wins b/c the last four weeks..., oof!

One road series -
@ Northwestern (4-11)
Three home series -
Illinois (14-3 and ranked)
Arizona St (19-0 and ranked)
Michigan (14-4 and ranked)

Damn!

To me, the most interesting thing here is all those winnable games early with a chance to develop skills, build consistency and create confidence. And doubly interesting because those three ranked teams for late April and May are all coming to Lincoln. This could get very interesting.

We have a chance. This schedule is set up very nicely for us if only we take advantage of it and I have seen things in our games so far that give me hope. Good things to build upon in these next five weeks.

Good things can happen for this team and I'll be watching the next five weeks closely. I think we're going to know about this season pretty quickly. Fail to rack up the available wins - bag the bats and wait for next year. Pile up the wins - look for an exciting May.

Interesting schedule.

I believe Minny has a decent SOS so I do feel they will be better than their record indicates by the end of the year.

Regarding Nebraska, like you I see promise with some of the young hitters and pitchers along with a couple of the vets. I worry about our quality pitching depth and feel that will be our Achilles heel and keep us out of a regional. Still early though so that could all change but something to keep an eye on.

Love the bats that have been added to the lineup since last year however.

I agree the schedule sets up well. I will be disappointed if we are not near the top of the league standings after three weekends. Say what you want about tough schedules but Michigan State, Minnesota and Purdue have a total of 13 wins between them. MSU and PU, in particular, are reeling. I don't think it's unreasonable to expect at least five wins against them and a series win at Minnesota.

I like this team because they seem to be dialed in every time they come to the park.

Minnesota just starting to play a little better. Defense has been a huge problem. They have played a brutal schedule. Just starting to hit better, playing several freshman.
