Could be I guess. Not sure Nebraska takes his commitment with Trout and Avery still available.

There's been rumors floating around Trout doesn't have much communication and with a NSD decision, has basically taken himself out of the running since we have kids much more actively involved.

I believe the coaches have Avery higher on their board.

This recruiting season is shaping up to have some entirely different conversations than years past. Seems crazy to be talking about passing up a top recruit to wait on another top recruit, but that could very well be what happens this year.

There has to be a few deadweight players on the roster milking their schollie. Terrible if we have to turn away from highly ranked DL.

I don't think Trout is an option. You really don't see much energy being put into his recruiting by the Huskers and he seems to be more excited about other programs

The point is there isn't more than 1 spot left for a DLineman and I don't think Perkins is the top guy on their list. Nebraska is down to 5 available scholarships 8 months before signing day. I believe there is a short list of guys, Avery and Trout being 2 of them, that Nebraska will accept a commitment from.

Just my opinion.

Edit - Trout's or Avery's interest in Nebraska is secondary at this time. Until they commit elsewhere, you can't fill those 5 spots with guys who aren't at the top of your list.

Anyone know when this is going to be announced? Today, hopefully? I think ya'll are right, it's a defensive player. I'm guessing Goodrich or hopefully Avery...I think we would totally take Perkins, too, but only if we're doing 16 scholarships because someone is leaving the program.

Yup, Tuco pointed that out, we're all 100% convinced its a defensive player. We just want to know WHOOOOO gosh darn it! DAG NABBIT!
The black flag has been in all their tweets about commits and recruiting. It's their thing this year for whatever reason, not necessarily related to the defense.

From all indications Trout is not 1B on the list

My sources say different. Again I am not saying he has interest in Nebraska. I am saying that he isn't 1B because of the lack of interest he is showing in Nebraska. However, if he discovers a love for Nebraska, he would move up the list quickly. Again the point is that with 8 months left until signing day, you don't take number 2, 3 or 4 on your DL list with only 5 total spots left and a huge need for RB, DB, OT.

You gotta figure between now and signing day there will be a couple of departures. "Unexpected departures" are like "unexpected expenses." They're only unexpected if you don't pay any attention to history.

The problem with unexpected departures is when they decide to depart and who you have on the hook to replace them at that time.

Also sometimes the number of unexpected departures or expenses are less than what you have seen historically. So if you budget for them, or in recruiting terms take a commitment from a guy, and the expense doesn't happen you have issues. Who are you going to cut loose?

Anyone hear anything about when this is going to be made public? Or was it just a bunch of kids messing around on Twitter again?
