Indiana State: A pretty impressive performance by the Huskers. The Sycamores are a decent team but got waxed two days in a row on their home field.

Purdue: I think it's safe by now to say the Boilers are among the worst teams in the country. The expectation should be to sweep but as has been discussed on this board, it's baseball and weird stuff happens. Anything less than two wins is unacceptable, though.

I really like how this team is playing at the moment.

We had some tough ball clubs to start the year, we played up and down but I think we hit our stride after the Marymount series and we will go on a tear in BIG play. Dare I say...BIG champs?

For all that i like how we're playing right now, we can't afford the expectation of 2/3 from teams like Purdue. 40 wins won't get us in the tournament.

To be fair, you can't really ask for more than winning 11 of 12 against any competition. But life isn't fair, and we have to keep winning. at least 11 of our next 12 is pretty much what we need. Yes, that sounds outrageous at first glance ... but 6 of those 12 games are against 200+ rpi's and another 5 are against 100+ rpi's (the only 'good' team is Creighton and we flat out shouldn't accept losing that one either).

We're doing alright. We just have to keep doing that well or better. 40-15 isn't good enough.

Really impressed with the sweep at Indiana St. Really strong showing.

Last year we lost just three games in March, then April and May happened. Sweep Purdue this weekend and we'll match that March production. What happens next?

It's a different team this year, different strengths, different weaknesses but on balance I'm seeing a much better team out there than any of DE's previous teams.

That and this weaker schedule give me good vibes for April and May. Many wins coming soon.

yeah 43 would (probably) do it... and we could do that without the championship if we had 40 wins regular season... (3-2 in tournament). I'm only saying 40-15 doesn't cut it... the door would still be open with that to be fair, but not wide open. 39 wins and we'd have to win the tournament. Our schedule is just simply way too weak. It's so weak that I'm wondering if 43 (including the B1G tournament) will cut it.

and yeah, of course, win the B1G and it's all moot. But you just can't count on that. Besides, if we win more, it's more likely we'll win the B1G tournament regardless :p

I've got some good vibes feel too. Like i said, we're doing alright... we need to take that next step. 10-2 at worst in the next 12 is what pretty much has to happen and frankly better should be expected. If those good vibes play out we could be looking fairly good heading into michigan in a few weeks to face the team we're probably chasing to win the B1G.

Tied for 16th in home runs. We knew we needed more pop in our bats but, man, that happened fast.

For sure need a better Friday night pitching effort than we saw against WSU.

That was too weird. Derek got his sixth strikeout off the first batter in the 5th. Six Ks with just one walk. We had a 3-0 lead. Then the floodgates opened and no one could close them. 17 walks. Crazy reversal of fortunes from our pitching crew.

We threw 233 pitches in that game.

On the homeruns... i think it's fairly likely that keeps up. we're not facing as good of pitching as we did the first few weeks and frankly long beach and san diego are pitchers' havens... big ones. last i recall, long beach is one of the top 3 pitchers' parks in the country and i'm fairly sure san diego isn't far behind.

i'm honestly a bit shocked we're this high given where we've played and who we've played.

if it does keep up, it's fairly likely we'll do a lot less playing down to the competition this year which bodes well for the next 2 months.
