Heard what one of the female fans had to say about adding like a place for kids to play.
I'm thinking.......must be confused with baseball or high school sports.
Just replace the South Stadium, add concessions, bathrooms, concourse.
I do like the mention of relocating the student section.

What’s the point of having a place for kids to play in. If children are that young that aren’t interested in watching the game they shouldn’t be at the game in the first place..

$1.1M is laughable. chump change, not even backpage news

We shouldn’t even discuss anything less than $20M at this point
Lol the 1M was basically just for them to put designs together

Confused What Is This GIF

Just to be clear, I'm assuming this was just one fans opinion. The concept designs haven't even been started yet.

Is all I know is don't skimp. Do it right.

We won all those games and championships without a damn kids play zone. Pu$$ification of America continues
They interviewed three female students on one of the news channels. Two of them said something about concessions and bathrooms. Sounded to me as if they had been to games and their suggestions were the same as we all complains about. The third one who suggested a play area struck me as someone who had never attended a game, of if she had, one of the students who leaves after the first quarter.

Maybe I'm off base, but I'm somewhat skeptical that lavish stadium upgrades really have a great impact on attendance. Personally, I think the following factors have a far greater impact on the softening of ticket demand:
1) Every game being televised
2) The two decade decline of the football program
3) The fan base being indifferent about the teams we now play in the Big 10
4) Younger generations having busier lives and not wanting to devote an entire Saturday to attending a football game
The only one of these factors we can address is #2 - we can't do anything about the other three

Yup. Just win. I go to a game a year. Currently the last 4 we actually have won. Beating Indiana at home last year was fun. Well worth sitting on the cold metal bench and not being able to feel my ass for a few days after. Just fvcking win!! The rest will take care of itself. NU fans will sit on sandpaper dildos if it means winning Big 10 titles, Bowl games and competing for National titles again!! GBR!!!

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Football fans have reason to celebrate.

The Board of Regents approved an initial contract on Friday for the hotly anticipated Memorial Stadium renovation.

Engineering company HDR will conduct conceptual planning and design for a flat fee of $1.1 million.

The project as a whole is expected to cost between $200 million and $700 million.

The massive project comes as the venue is celebrating its 100th anniversary.

Officials say they want to make the stadium more fan-friendly for decades to come.

Even though they are only in the initial phase, they have some changes in mind.

“Change in seating, concessions, the access points in and around the stadium, security,” said Ted Carter, president of the University of Nebraska.

1.1 million was to pay the architect for the design options. The renovation will be between 200 million and 700 million.
Thank god we are bringing back our worst basketball coach in modern history for year five

That ~3 million saved should put a nice dent in the $500 million price tag

Maybe she is knocked up. It makes em dumber.

The minute you realize Nebraska sports isn’t dedicated to winning; it’s dedicated to earrings…. bringing in money from donors and making “friends of the program” rich. The university gets a nice upgrade on a facility that’s a major revenue earner and their buddies get a big fat contract.

Kids care less about facilities now of days. They’d rather that money go in to their own pocket. Can’t blame them. And in stead of the university telling boosters to invest in NIL, they ask them to help them with assets. Can’t blame the university. Just don’t think it’s truly dedicated to winning. Think it’s truly dedicated to making money and getting kick backs
$EC dedicated to winning cause they see the down stream effect of enrollment and also don’t take fans for granted. I’ve seen some really empty Bama & LSU stadiums in my life. Can’t say the same for Lincoln

I have a contrary view from the popular opinion. I think a special area for kids is a good thing with one condition and that is as long as it doesn't take away seats from regular football fans. I think it's good to get young parents to football games if that helps them attend and I also think it's good to start kids becoming Husker fans for the long run even if they're not attentive initially.

Cmon redcap. Where are they going to put this playground. In the endzone? You don't have a kiddie playland in a football stadium.
Lets move on from the glayground.
Finish the Stadium by doing it right. Replace the South Stadium. Fans sitting in S Stadium will just have to miss six games.
In the end it will be well worth it!!

Was in 3rd or 4th grade going to my first game and I was interested in the game and the first TD so I could let my red balloon 🎈 go and the Huskers winning, parents going to a game don’t have time to baby sit, they should be engaged in watching the game..

The two biggest losers we’ve ever had in the two biggest men’s sports were retained for an extra year simply due to saving money.

1+1=2. Always. It sucks & is a huge slap in every one of our faces.

Despite this obvious fact many can’t wait to say thank you sir may I have another

My boomer dad might literally track me down at the stadium and kill me if he found out I paid for a ticket for myself and my kid and than went to a playground in the stadium. I mentioned taking my then 5 year old son a few years and I could sense his death stare through the phone. A person would have to have a lot of disposable income to start taking kids to a playground at Memorial Stadium.

Football and baseball are also totally different. BB is slower, kids get bored easily. Get a hot dog, more relaxed environment. Let them play on a nice spring or summer day. Football is being totally invested and all N from the kickoff to the end. Keep the kiddy play zones at McDonald's and the BB games.

Sure why not. Everything is money money money, no matter where it goes or who it goes to. Fill the playground with crap that takes 1's 5's and 10's to operate. Then name each one after Husker legends. CHA-CHING!

At the end of the day - Trev has to figure out how to keep rears in seats for the next 10-20 years. I doubt doing the same ol, same ol is going to be the winning combination in the future. Get creative - no one even says it has to take seats away as there are no artist renderings yet. If there was a little fan experience off to the side of the stadium for kids 5-12, I’m sure it would be well received and may reach another demographic that will always be there but may not be capitalized fully.

It's Monday and the Nebraska board is arguing about irrelevant nonsense again. Seriously? Kid's playground? WGAF? Either way? Hey, next Monday can we argue over whether we like paper towels or blow driers in the bathrooms? Can we get back to relevant stuff like Haarburg highlights?

This thread was about the improvements at Memorial’ Stadium, had nothing do with Spring practice. Try to follow along.
