I thought the two Michigan commits were intersting when they were mentioned in the paper.

If only because of the outcry here and the continued national harbaugh fest

I also thought it's very interesting to see so many guys already committed to other schools on campus.

This is EXACTLY why the reactionary fans need to chill out. No matter what happens in the next few years we need to bring more talent to Lincoln. This staff has set up a huge weekend and our fans need to support the team.
POB gives me hope. 78% pass completion with 28 TDs to 5 int. Riley will bring in guys that can play, the only question is can he make defensive coaching changes?

If we get down early by a few scores it may get ugly this weekend...as in, boooooos all around. Hopefully we can keep it close or better yet pull out the upset to make the recruiting visit more enjoyable for the above visitors.

We will have to see. I'm interested in seeing what our defense looks like with some talent infusion at DB (coming next year, though still inexperienced) and some pass rushers.

It's possible - and absolutely pathetic. Literally nobody deserves that. Not the current coaches nor the players.

I know we have young talented DBs but who do you see generating a pass rush? Neal? Davis twins?

I would agree...but it also wouldn't surprise me to see the fanbase rally around the team and staff and bring it Saturday. We just need a few good things to happen early in the game.

I think next year is going to be another rough one for the defensive line unless we hit on a JUCO prospect. We will have to see who emerges and also hope that Freedom continues to develop. Unfortunately, those positions are pretty thin and DL tends to be a position that is difficult to recruit. I'm hoping we hit on a JUCO and everyone stays healthy. We don't need to dominate but we can't give 4-5 seconds with a clean pocket. That isn't sustainable for any set of DBs trying to play in coverage.

I hope that we do. I'll be making the trip to support our guys.

Need a lot of those guys.

4* wide receivers would be nice. Westerkamp and Alonzo Moore are seniors next year if memory serves, also will DPE come back 100%? After that we are very thin at WR. Commit and play fellas.

Yes and yes.

There's been limited reporting that I've seen about DL recruiting. You mentioned the possible shift to 3-4 earlier which you requoted from the spring.

Are you basing a possible move to 3-4 on offer lists or who you think is in the fold? You said the recruiting seemed to be pointing at something. Its just a great void to me.

Pretty sure Smothers isn't going to be here, firmly committed to WVU

Heard the coaches aren't interested in Lucas and he's committing next week

nebaska will have a shot with david reese because he will not not be signing with michigan. going hard after fitzpatrick will help as they are good friends

What's Reese's story?
michigan recuited him to play full back and then later he said he wants to play lb. michigan has a few highly rated lb they are expecting to commit to them. he also wants to come in early. michigan can only take a certain amount to come in early. a lot of the committed guys and guys they are recruiting want to come in early. so michigan has to pick which ones. they told reese he cant come early

How many of these 2016 would you say we have a shot at?

Why would Michigan have a limit of EE's they could take? They can only count so many back, but they should be able to take as many as they want-as far as I know.

With Grimm and Spielman on board, don't think there was room left for Smothers. Outside of Owens, whom I believe we would take, the other WR(s) will be "big body" types.

Pumped up for this weekend...hopefully the crowd is nuts (you know they will be) and we can pull off the upset

Tim, thanks for the post.

Uh...since many are calling this season lost...essentially over...can you please take that damn picture down?

"Reactionary???" Seriously? We just lost to Purdue...and gave up 55 in doing so. We are 3-6. There is very little about the response from the fanbase that is reactionary. Actually, I would call the response as fairly tempered, considering the circumstances.

This is incorrect. Being very upset is completely rational.

Talk of not letting coaches and/or AD's back on busses, or the Regents staging a coup and wiping out a University power structure some months to guys retiring in a 1st year coaching transition, is pretty reactionary.

It goes against 130 years of football history in a most outrageous manner. Not just NU football history, all of college freaking football history.

Sorry, but after 15 years of being in flux, this is not exactly new territory for us. Even this board, which can lose its collective mind when we lose a game, has been relatively tempered.

Reactionary is not the term I would use at all. I would call it an appropriate response. Reactionary is losing your mind after losing one game. Most of our fan base didn't do so even after losing a few games.

Throwing out 130 years of CFB precedent because we're upset at being some what good and somewhat bad in the last 15 years is reactionary.

No two ways about it. Those 130 years of precedent include other prima donna fan bases used to winning at big time football schools. Schools and fans with less scruples than us about doing what it takes to win (say a Bama when they were down or whoever). The only thing you are indicating is that we are somehow more whiny than Bama fans.

We've been bad for 180 months, 12 more to see "what happens" isn't killing anyone. Who knows, we may even get better.

No, I'd say jflores got it right. It's reactionary to call for the firing of the AD, head coach and multiple assistants before they have 1 season under their belt, while at the same time refusing to even hear of the limitations/challenges they are facing. Pretty much the definition of petulance. I don't know if Riley will work out. I certainly hope so because I think he is a good person and representative of the university. IMO he has enough experience and success to prove he isn't completely inept. I think the job he faced was or is underestimated by a portion of the fan base and he will need some time. More than most expected but that doesn't mean he can't get it done.

Sorry, but you are patently wrong. As you said, we've been bad for an extended period of time. No one was losing their mind after losing to BYU. Even in the fashion we lost. Not even after the Miami game, which should have left all of us more upset than any have the entire season.

I can remember coming on here and seeing a lot of positive posts after BYU. I remember feeling really good about the team.

The 'reaction' has been a slow build of dissatisfaction. An appropriate reaction. Calling people being upset at being 3-6 "reactionary" is silly in its very basis..

Re-read my posts.

I said people have every right to be very upset about the season, its very rational. I am upset.

The idea that we fire a first year coach without legal issues is without precedence anywhere in 130 years in CFB at a Power 5 school. That includes schools like Bama. As a side note, I could probably be ok with this but....

the manner in which we'd have to do it is very irrational. Because of the way the cards are laid out for us, the AD won't just make a call and send the coaches packing. That would be acceptable. The Chancellor is not going to wipe out the coaches or the AD. So we're left with the Regents wiping out at least a few people, some of whose primary jobs aren't even sports over a transition football season. Completely reactionary. Hell we had a dude post a moment ago that we shouldn't stop there, we should throw out the Regents. Regents are elected, and a whole other ball game than throwing out a few coaches because we're 3-6.
