I bought a new build last fall and they put sod down and it was full and looked awesome last fall going in to winter. Coming out is a different story, with the almost 0 moisture we received here in Nebraska I have some winter kill and some areas are very thin. 80 percent of the yard is looking good and full.

I had the yard sprayed about a month ago which included pre-emergent so from what I have read over-seeding is out of the question until the fall. With it being new sod I am a little hesitant to mess with it too much but also don't want a crappy looking yard. Should I just leave it be and see what grows in over the summer and over-seed the bare spots in the fall? Any tips appreciated.
