The 2020 QB from Athens (Ala.) participated in the FNL at Ohio State this weekend. Smothers admitted to me just a week or so ago that while on his unofficial visit to Nebraska that he was considering committing to coach Scott Frost. Smothers also said in another conversation that despite the visits that followed Nebraska that he was still favoring Nebraska.
"The camp at Ohio State went well," Smothers said. "Ohio State didn't offered, but coach Meyer made it clear that they are going to recruit me hard. They want me to come back for a game this fall.
"I would say knowing that Ohio State has interest in me is something that I have to think about. They haven't offered me so Nebraska is still what I am thinking about."
Nebraska may be the leader, but it's a much thinner line between the Huskers and others...particularly the Buckeyes. Smothers said that he has no timeline for a decision.
