Latest AP Men’s Basketball Top 25.....

Nebraska received 2 votes...only 84 separates them from the 25th spot!!!
You can't get in the basketball tournament with a field of 68 when you are the 26th ranked team in the country but you can make the Final Four in Football even if you don't win your conference or your division in your conference.:confused::confused:

Except they aren’t ranked 26th. Either one person voted them 24th or two people voted them 25th. That is not the same as 26th

The main reason the size of the field was made so huge 30 years or so ago was to accommodate all of the many Div 1 conference champions including many conferences with schools that would seldom otherwise get in. And it also allowed room for multiple other highly ranked schools. It would be absurd to have such a huge field if the top 68 were given bids. They could and should go back to 32 or so if it’s a field solely based on rankings.

They question will persist: How are the rankings determined?

They say it with the CFP: Just pick the 4 best teams. The criteria for "best" is fluid from year to year. For basketball, I had never heard the term "Quadrant 1" until this year. what will it be next year?
