Cubs really miss Fowler at the top of the line-up. They obviously have no one to bat first in that line-up. When Madden is experimenting by batting Rizzo lead-off, that is a sign of trouble. Someone forgot to tell this team that trying to hit a homerun in every at bat is bad. They forgot how to hit the ball in gaps and down the line.
Also their pitching is way down. Arrieta fell back down to earth, back to the guy he was with the O's and Hendricks on the DL. This staff was due for some injuries after the good luck bug they had last year.
As for the Cards, does anyone really scare you in that line-up? I like Fowler & Carpenter. They are key parts but not the main course. Plus Matheny has them batting backwards. Fowler is a lead-off & Carpenter is a 2 hitter not vice-versa!!! Oh may be the worst closer in the game
So hey, Cincy is not done yet. TwinsRRUs may have been joking but 4 games back in the loss column, there is a chance here. Homer Bailey & Brandon Finnegan are coming back, that's their #1 & #2 SPs. No one else in this division is getting that big of a shot in the arm, as the Reds are. The bats are there. Iglesias is a beast of a closer. It really isn't over for these guys.
Anyone can win this division. It's about the only division in baseball that we can say that about.
