Kudos to Scott Frost and UCF

IF Frost turns around UCF and gets to be in the position that Hermann is in ... where is in the top 3 available coaches ... where he goes is going to be determined, in large part, on timing .... if he is a top candidate and a marque program is looking for a head coach ... Texas, OU, Georgia, Alabama, USC, UCLA etc ... then he takes that job and he likely finishes his career there if he continues to have success. Very low chance that if he is already at a high profile program that he would leave to go to Nebraska when the NU job is open. I don't think he would even leave Oregon, as the head coach, to come to Nebraska. The only way I see him at Nebraska is if all the stars align ... he has a great deal of success at UCF and when he is ready to move on the NU job is open
I could see that way of thinking, but look at Harbaugh. He went to Stanford which became a top-tier program and then he wanted to try the NFL. He had success there, even though his style wore on the team eventually. Probably many didn't see the path to returning to Michigan but it worked its way out.

There are many years left (hopefully) for Riley to bring the Huskers back to prominence, and then who knows what happens down the road. Would I like Frost to return to Nebraska? Absolutely. He's been groomed by the game's best coaches. He seems to relate well to the athletes and I think it was no coincidence that Oregon has suffered a drop-off after he left. Of course, losing a QB and other things contributed, but when leading coaches leave, there is usually an impact.

Add to the fact that he's a native son, he played his tail off with a lot of character earning an National Championship and I think it's a no-brainer.

the timing for Michigan was perfect ....

Harbaugh wanted out of SF and SF wanted to be rid of Harbaugh and Michigan needed a coach

secondly the Michigan job is better than Stanford .... there aren't many jobs better than the Michigan job as evidenced by the amount of money they are willing to pay ... 9 million to Harbaugh (I know there is some funny math in that) ... but if Frost ends up at a high profile program and having success, I don't see Frost leaving a marque program for Nebraksa and I don't see Nebraska outbidding a marque program for Frost

IMO he surely wondered at the time why he didn't get more consideration; at least publicly. He progresses quickly; I am sure he has an opinion now on what it appears our AD was trying to do. He probably won't be as emotionally involved next time; so I think JBL nailed it..... I respect and admire all he achieved here as a player; and the example he set. And yes; I am a big fan of how hard he works and what he is trying to achieve. GBR

Speaking of head coach salaries, did you see Riley was (I believe) ranked 42nd? Nice ROI so far considering he's got the team ranked 7th in the country.

There will be so many openings this year and if Frost gets a bowl bid with a team that was 0-12 just a year ago it makes me think his phone might be vibrating in his pants.

I can't explain it very well but I have a feeling Frosty would do quite well at a bigtime program sitting in fertile recruiting territory. I don't think he would have been a good fit here last year, but going forward now, I would hesitate to hire him at several of the jobs coming open. I suspect he won't be where he's at for much longer.

I would love to see Frost at a school were he can't fill his entire roster with kids from the city/state he's in. Not hard to recruit to Orlando, especially getting all the kids who can't get into UF/FSU/Miami.

Would like to see how well he would have done at Colorado State. Would be more impressive to do well at CSU compared to UCF.

Personally, I don't think he will coach here for his next gig. I doubt he leaves UCF for awhile.

I agree. I know UCF was 0-12 last year, but they weren't Kansas bad. They have talent and were 9-4 just two seasons ago. I honestly didn't follow them closely so I don't know what happened last year, but it strikes me as a team that quit on their coach or something?

Anyway, I can see Frost being there for a long time and not just using it as a stepping stone.

Reminds me of Oregon this year. They aren't a bad team, they just didn't give a sh*t. Yes they aren't KU bad, I've watched a lot of KU football since 2010 and it's been sad as a fan.

You guys think that Oregon is a great school. Historically, they've been meh. Washington was the power school of the Northwest. Now, that UW is up again Oregon is back to it's normal pecking order. The thing that is out of whack is the amount of $$ that Phil Knight dumps into the program. Without it they are middling at best.
