I could see that way of thinking, but look at Harbaugh. He went to Stanford which became a top-tier program and then he wanted to try the NFL. He had success there, even though his style wore on the team eventually. Probably many didn't see the path to returning to Michigan but it worked its way out.IF Frost turns around UCF and gets to be in the position that Hermann is in ... where is in the top 3 available coaches ... where he goes is going to be determined, in large part, on timing .... if he is a top candidate and a marque program is looking for a head coach ... Texas, OU, Georgia, Alabama, USC, UCLA etc ... then he takes that job and he likely finishes his career there if he continues to have success. Very low chance that if he is already at a high profile program that he would leave to go to Nebraska when the NU job is open. I don't think he would even leave Oregon, as the head coach, to come to Nebraska. The only way I see him at Nebraska is if all the stars align ... he has a great deal of success at UCF and when he is ready to move on the NU job is open
There are many years left (hopefully) for Riley to bring the Huskers back to prominence, and then who knows what happens down the road. Would I like Frost to return to Nebraska? Absolutely. He's been groomed by the game's best coaches. He seems to relate well to the athletes and I think it was no coincidence that Oregon has suffered a drop-off after he left. Of course, losing a QB and other things contributed, but when leading coaches leave, there is usually an impact.
Add to the fact that he's a native son, he played his tail off with a lot of character earning an National Championship and I think it's a no-brainer.
