none of my kids have ever lived one minute in Nebraska but my boys have been DEEP Big Red FOOTBALL fans(oldest roots for Jayhawks in basketball...sorry!), but my
daughter is AT BEST a casual fan...and she is now in love with an OU fan(NICEST GUY EVER!!! Rooting for this relationship!!) Well, she converted to the other Red, and Saturday
we were watching the OU/Bama game at our house and she was going crazy(in fairness...she knows their roster so she's trying)...the next day, my youngest and his family comes
over for Sunday lunch, and she says " Did you see the game? Are you going to congratulate me?" and he says ' NEVER will I congratulate you on an OU win!!! I hope the lose every game!!"

I've never loved him more.....:)

I question your judgement if you let her marry a hillbilly.

mines (almost) engaged to a Georgia fan... she's pretty much converted no matter how much Nebraska crap I give/throw at her... but can I blame her? She's 22 and basically never known Nebraska to be special

Nebraska is always special. When I was a young man, I dated this girl from Nebraska. I was like thrilled that she was from some small town in Nebraska. I had even been to this small town. But when she told me about how much she didn't like where she was from, it was such a turn-off. And she was this hot blond that was willing to do anything for me. It didn't matter. How can you be from Nebraska and not love Nebraska? I mean I get it. It just wasn't what I was looking for.

I lot of people hate where they are from when they are young and then realize how much they miss it when they move away. Small towns can also be exhausting for young people.

I taught in a small town for a few years. Most of the kids could not wait to leave and I totally got it. Two bars, no stores to speak of, everything was about 90 minutes away.

I don’t hate the small Nebraska town I grew up in but there’s no way in hell I would want to go back. The only thing to do there is golf the 9 hole course in the summer and drink the rest of the year. There’s no decent restaurants and 90 % of the population remembers what a dipshit I was during puberty. 🤪. Hell the nearest decent fishing hole is over half an hour away. No criticism from me for people who don’t want to go back.

One of the kids who was an Eagle Scout in my troop finished his medical residency. Very small town kid. His wife also is an MD from my home town. He asked me what I thought about them moving to that town. Their other option was in the Blackhills. I knew he loved to hike and fish. I just told him, go where you would enjoy more when you’re not working. They love the Blackhills.

I get it. It's that phase we're all in. I had moved from a small town in rural Indiana to Texas back when I was 17. When I was 19 my parents moved away to the Adirondacks of upstate New York. Gave me a big sell about how they would pay for school for the first couple of years. I left them straight in the eyes and told him there's no way I was going to move there. I was in the big city where there was my friends, girls and plenty of things to do. I totally get it. But I was getting past that while she was still there. I was 23 and she was the magical age of 19. She would do anything for me but self-loathing was a turn off. If she had loved Nebraska, things might have gone differently. God had other plans... 😁

I'd love to move back to Nebraska, but my wife can't stand the humidity. On top of that, my daughter live close to us and if we moved back to Nebraska, I wouldn't see them or my grandsons. I guess I'm stuck where I'm at in Utah.

When I was younger I always wanted to live near the mountains in Wyoming. Then work and family happened. Still my favorite place to vacation but it’s been too many years since I’ve been back.

There’s humidity in Nebraska? I never knew what humidity was until I moved to SE Texas. We live 45 minutes to the gulf coast and 45 minutes to Louisiana…Beaumont Tx. Skeeters as big as hummingbirds…and you don’t need rain to be soaking wet down here.
