If Tony has it in him to get rid of his 4 man front for a week (this is my biggest beef with him other than allowing Gifford to still play) and add Van Poppel and jeudy, etc in a 5-3 standard front with Cover 1 in the back, then we should be good to go.

Front
Have to play a base 5 man front. Weak side B gap will be critical against Iowa and we need Van Poppel in there FAR more than we need a Will gapped out there. Can move the N between 0T and 1T if you think you see something or just want to make it harder on the C to chip and release.

I promise you we need a kid in weak side B more than we need a second safety (looking at you Gifford) in a C2 pre snap look.

Only cute things we could do is slide a “side” over a gap/half gap pre snap to mess with line calls. Talking about a 3T to a 4i at most. That’s it. Rarely. We can play with these guys in base 5 man front. We have the horses to bet them up front. But we need bodies. Can’t do it with 4.

LBs
Widen your second level (LBs) to help in pass support on slants etc. take away the easier stuff in the alleys.

Secondary
Play C1 with the corners 7x2 outside shade. They don’t run anything deep. You will know what they are doing before they hit 6 yards. And they don’t attack the outside edges so keep it in front of you and break early. QB will set up quick. Every once in awhile go 5x1 inside and play C0 and roll the dice on their weaker WR side.

Summary
This isn’t that hard. Iowa is good at what they do but we CAN’T allow them to zone block us with a four man front. TyRob is the best DL we have had since Suh. He’s better than Crick - All American level. Nash is so solid. All conference kid. And that’s saying a lot. But they need bodies. Tony has to just trust that our average secondary in spots (not looking at you Ceyair) is still better than Iowas WRs. They are. We can’t get killed by 1000 paper cuts tomorrow.

Our success will be determined by Tony White putting more than 4 on the LOS. Watch for it.

We play 5+ on the LOS and play responsibly in the back and we stuff them up front and win by 20-7. Maybe 27-7

Our guys need to stop 1 arm tackling the players and gang tackle like crazy tomorrow. I feel this team is pissed off at Io_a for last year and Rhule might’ve hinted to that in his press conference this week…

We need to win on first down on both sides....put the Browneyes into spots where their QB has to make a throw, I think he will make some mistakes. For us, 2nd an 6 or 7 is just fine, everything is still available....but 2nd and 13 is obviously not where we want to be. Also Boomscini will need to have a great game, guy has been nails this year for ths most part.

The players are pissed and this a revenge game against the last of the 3 or our most hated rivals, and how did that fair against Colorado and Wisconsin? Think about this, against tOSU the Blackshirts had something like 10 or 11 TFLs against albeit a retooled OL with 2 backups did to an OL that is light years better than Iowa's which the majority of that production came from the DL.

Solid tackling.
Don’t let Iowa sustain drives to wear down the defense.
Can’t let Iowa make special teams plays.

Offense needs to control the game and score points.
Let’s see what Dana cooked up this week.

Everyone stacks the box against Iowa, The Hawks love the mid zone run with the Rb reading and cutting, While the box may be stacked gap integrity is vital, It is easy to overrun and leave a cutback lane, Smart disciplined defense is key.

This years Iowa secondary is one of the worst in regard to being fundamentally sound that I can recall in years. Blown coverages and poor use of leverage and angles far too often.

Nebraska will likely have a few chances to hit a big play, Converting on a couple could make the difference in the game. And of course never rule out turnovers being key.

1) score early.
2) don’t let them get 4-5 yards on first down.

Iowa’s best DB is listed as out, we should actually be able to hit them over the top early for a score.

Absolutely cannot play from behind, that is where Iowa loves to be.

My YouTube TV says the game is unavailable and I heard it's on Peacock... Can anyone PLEASE tell me if that's how I have to stream it?

I don't want the POS Peacock again but I'm not missing the game. Thanks to anyone who can point me in the right direction 🙏

I don't know what to expect out of our defense other than a lot of bending and I hope they keep the breaking to a minimum.

Hopefully our offense continues to be able to move the ball effectively and maybe jumps on them early.

I think a lot of people are overthinking this. If the offense clicks like it did last week they won’t be able to keep up.

Yeah, but it may not. Conditions won’t be favorable for scoring and iowa has a decent defense. I don’t know that we can count on the offense moving the ball like last week. Need to stop the run for 4 quarters and give our offense the best possible opportunity.

Love Ty and love Nash but you lost me when you labeled one an All American and (best since Suh) and the other All conference.

Honestly may not be too far off on Ty. I could see him a 3rd string All American maybe. But you missed the boat on Nash. For whatever reason he hasn't been as good this year as last.

I could see Ty maybe 2nd team All BIG but Nash doesn't show up on any All conference list imo.

All that said love those guys and admire the work they put in.

I hear you. Nash hasn’t had the “wow” plays like he closed with last season but I think he has the respect of the league and really does a nice job of holding his gap at the point of attack on combos.

Ty 100% should be All American. He is dominant in a conference of large, talented O Linemen. Should be first team Big Ten. Could see 2nd team and still make an All American List. If he were at OSU he would be a household name in this conference.
