Kansas is looking good..

Was just watching them. Misdirection runs and play action. And about to be 6-3 with some decent wins at freaking Kansas. I like their coach a lot too. I feel like a few of those big 12 guys would be good fits here.

Notice how Minnesota kept running the same TE split run right at us? It worked. We had some nice under center runs that disappeared and seemed to work. Sick of getting out coached and never really have any confidence in what they’re doing on offense. We all knew Minney was gonna win

Yep. And while I think we need an experienced head coach, Jeff Grimes (OC at Baylor) is very intriguing. His offense would be perfect here.

And Shaw at Stanford? Man is he looking great today in the face of an absolute blowout. Just so much poise. I wonder how much it would take to get him to come here...
We gotta find someone who is familiar with football in the Midwest and in the Big 10. I just think we're less likely to succeed with someone who has spent all or most of their time on the east or west coast.

I’m old school. I just don’t think Nebraska will ever find success being a modern offense. Ground and pound, no turnovers and a good D. The fat ass at IL turned them into a bowl team from a complete dumpster fire. Sad thing is they’re light years ahead of us

Minnesota averaged 2.8 ypc. PJ shit the bed, again, but we just refused to win.

But yes, I agree LL has done an impressive job at KU (and Buffalo and WWW).

They ran the ball really well when they needed to. Probably had something to do with the pathetic offense we displayed for 3 Qs

Our defense worse down for sure. Can’t believe they punter on 4th down at the end.

Saw the score and thought good old drubendall will be coming out of hibernation today on LL. Will ignore that Okie State down to a 3rd string freshman QB’s offense still put up 400+ yards on LL.

Lance is in the right conference. B1G isn’t an offense only conference like the Big 12 is. Maybe Lance will get the Okie State gig when Gundy leaves

All good drubendall. Lance has a beautiful offensive mind. He really does. Just doesn’t fit in to our conference

Chuck the ball around all you want... Just chuck it around with the QB who can chuck it around...
Yeah where tf was the other guy? Was he hurt or something?

If not...I mean I like Klieman, but that would be a total Mickey move...

Literally no one is talking about Shaw
In this thread? Nope. But a few of the regs here literally have over the past few days. I know. I'd like to forget having read it as well. I think it gave me instant brain damage.

(Thanks butthurt for allowing me to post again after 5 hours)

no we have to find someone who is familiar with winning.

do you think Ohio State approaches everything with the idea of “they have to really understand the geographic landscape if they wanna be here”?

this is a boomer take that needs to die asap

You really have no idea what you are talking about, but I'll go ahead and respond.

Find someone familiar with winning? Scott Frost was 13-0 and won a national championship as a college QB.

Ohio State? Ryan Day was a promotion from within. Urban Meyer was born in Ohio and started out at Bowling Green. Luke Fickell was an internal promotion and born in Ohio/played for the Buckeyes. Jim Tressell is also from Ohio and coached at Youngstown St. You have to go back to the mid-80's to find a head football coach Ohio State hired who didn't have Ohio connections.

There are legit reasons that geographical familiarity increases the likelihood of a coach being successful.

"We gotta find someone who is familiar with football" Just stop reading there and have a good laugh. Actually, the statement may be the most fundamentally sound of any on this board. Truth is, selecting a coach is a crapshoot. Frost was a great hire. It did not work out.

Your reasoning is good enough. But these days coaches try to get into geographic areas where there are large populations of talented recruits. Never thought I would see a coach leave Notre Dame for a HC job in Louisiana. Four and five stars everywhere within two hours in the car. Of course it also is an advantage that you can get someone reading at a fourth grade level into LSU if he is a lock down defensive back - as we know from the North Carolina scandal.

This is exactly what I've said, I would be happy with a Leipold hire.

I like what Leipold has done at Kansas and they are once again playing well against a good team. But geez... what the hell happened to Okie State? Hammered by KSU last week and now by Kansas.
Spencer Sanders was their starter and I believe he was injured at K-State last week so they played a Freshman QB.

Not to mention Okie St is a terrible tackling team.

The Kansas guy is a proven resurrectionist.
We probably don’t like to admit it but Nebraska is rock bottom, not good, teetering on irrelevant. We need a coach, even if it’s transitional (hope not), to get this school winning again and back in good graces.
We are biased. All of us. Most of the nation cares not about our history or tradition. They’ve moved on
