1. Personnel management again a total head scratcher. Who told Scott it was a good idea to consistently take our best outside threats (Manning and Toure) off the line and motion them back 10 yards off the line of scrimmage for fake speed options? Where was Sevion Morrison and why was Rahmir Johnson, our smallest and least shifty back, getting run between the tackles multiple times on the last drive? What happened to "we're going to get one running back 25 carries"? Why was Cam Taylor-Britt still returning punts when he has only proven to be a liability at that position? Where was Zavier Betts and why was Chris Hickman playing in the slot over any of our receivers?

2. Special teams is still garbage. Not just bad, but game-changing bad. How is it possible to care so little about special teams that it kills us every year and this staff STILL hasn't addressed it?

3. Play calling was again a total mystery. No flow to play calling like Illinois had. You could feel their play actions being set up and their pop passes coming after between the tackles runs. Taking shots at the right times, etc. On our side, we get outside the tackle shotgun handoffs on 1st and 25, an eat-the-clock dive with 8 minutes left that didn't give us enough time even if we got the ball back, 5+ second routes when Illinois was getting pressure, and taking a snap with 7 seconds left in the half just to make sure and get our starting QB one last hit.

4. No development. Eyes on Martinez here, and playcalling was some of it (aforementioned long routes under pressure, where were the designed QB runs, etc.), but it's year 4 and it's the same pass-forcing, ball-security-lacking, throwing-off-the-back-foot, no-intermediate-accuracy-having Adrian Martinez.

5. I didn't see Frost talking to a single player as they left the field. Where is the coaching? Where was the correcting mistakes in real time? Where was the leadership? At this point, Frost certainly looks like all bravado with nothing to back it up. He's playing games in his head that just don't translate to the field and calling plays and personnel without any regard for the flow and results of the game.

6. This could have been included above, but I thought it deserved it's own point. In-game coaching and game management is incredibly bad. The talking heads on Fox tore us apart for taking that unnecessary snap (and sack) at the end of the first half, we almost cost ourself a score late by not even knowing what down it was, and even though we did score, it took 7 minutes when we only had 9 to start with largely due to bad play calling.

I don't know if HCSF is too stubborn, too confident in himself, or too prideful to get the job done, but regardless the reason it's clear after 3 years and 1 game he's not going to get the job done here.

The only part of the team that even looked like a real football team was the only part he doesn't control - the defense. Props to Coach Chins for at least putting a respectable group together. It's not easy to play defense in 100 degree heat when you're losing the T.O.P. battle 2 to 1.
