John Cook Retiring

Listened to the shorten version on btn at 11 am this morning. That was tough for cook to do.

I got the impression that the team is all in on this. I don't expect any big portal changes at NU or Louisville as their associate hc is now the hc.

I think they Trust Cook and with both assistants staying for at least this coming year I would agree.

That PC was a rough, emotional listen. I really appreciated hearing some of the background stories as far as telling the team and convos with Coach Dani.

I love that players from Nebraska & Louisville were told at the same time, and before the rest of the world knew. That's how you do it right.

The players will always know before the rest of the world.

Apparently Larson had made her decision in mid December and told Cook at that time. It was a coincidence that the news came out on Monday (per OWH)

“She kind of had to make a decision of ‘I’m either going to do this or I’m going to coach,’” Cook said. “She’s got a great gig with pro volleyball. They’re paying her really well, she’s still playing really well and she signed a contract to play next year as well. It’s hard to do both. She might as well play while she can play. She’s the Tom Brady of volleyball.”
